    Re: sub job help

My eyes burn from this gibberish. Please make an effort to type legibly so I can actually read what you're trying to say.

Sub pld if you want to tank and heal.

Sub drk if you want to deal a lot of damage.

Sub mnk if you want to deal a lot of damage and have more hp.

War/mnk is probably the most popular choice, by far.

    Edit:

Lo and behold! This thread will answer your question

My God, don't tell him that. /PLD does not make WAR a better tank, and /DRK does not make WAR a better DD (in most situations.) There are three main sub jobs for WAR:
      1) /MNK for solo tanking
      2) /THF (post-30 only) for pure DDing
      3) /NIN for duo tanking/backup tanking/SATA partner while DDing.

          Re: sub job help

PLD sub does pretty much nothing for WAR. You're better off subbing WHM, and you really shouldn't be subbing WHM as WAR in a group.

MNK is a great combo for tanking. Boost gives a good amount of hate, and you add it in with provoke and the monster never pays attention to anybody else. At WAR20/MNK10, you can counter attack hits, making you even better at tanking. And at WAR30/MNK15 you can use dodge to boost your evasion a bit.

THF is a great damage subjob...after WAR30/THF15. No sooner. Sneak attack + Sturmwind (great axe weapon skill) does good damage that'll probably last you until the 50's.

NIN is highly overrated, but does have uses. For lower level WAR, it's main use is if you and another NIN or WAR/NIN are both tanking one monster, trading off once your shadows go down. It works fairly well against monsters that only attack once. So no trying this against mandragoras, they have two attacks and eat utsusemi shadows for breakfast.

RNG works for a short time, but most people over look it. It's a good damage subjob from 20 to 30 (when subbed THF gets sneak attack). It gives you accuracy bonus at WAR20/RNG10, which is a level where accuracy is quite hard to come by.

As for DRK, I don't really see the point. As far as I know, the attack bonus traits don't stack, same as the defense bonus traits on PLD and WAR not stacking.

Disclaimer: All subjobs are for groups that you'll likely run into at lower levels. Although /THF and /NIN are the two big ones to have after 30 and 50, respectively.

            Re: sub job help

Something that was not mentioned was the DRG sub.

I know what you're thinking. Noone uses DRG as a subjob.

For the sake of completeness, however, it does have some very good points.

Between 20 and 30, DRG is an excellent sub for most melee jobs. You gain the job ability "Jump" which gives you an extra attack every 90 seconds.

You also get a very nice ATT Bonus job trait that will boost your damage output.

It's unorthodox, but it will work.

              Re: sub job help

DRG sub isn't an option here. He's WAR15/nothing - no subjob, no level 30 main to unlock DRG with.

              I agree it's useful, though.

You can start looking at DRG sub after 50. It's actually pretty powerful with G Axe and very well known among warrior players. It's not quite known by other jobs tho so invite rates may suffer when you use it.

A few great pieces you can look forward to as War/Drg are Baron body and Baron Legs which have TP Bonus when you jump. And Wyvern earring 5% haste.

Well, he's the one who started talking about a PLD sub.

If he can have a PLD sub, he can have a DRG sub.

Edit: Also, as Jei sort of pointed out, with a DRG sub, you'll want to use a GAxe to maximize damage on each jump.

Jump damage is based on your ATT stat, so you will want that as high as possible.

                    Re: sub job help

War/mnk is the best sub at that level if you go for another for partys war/nin is the other great one esepcially when you get dual weld, though for this combo its better to have a pld tank in teh party so you can dd. For farming use war/theif especially if your lvl 30 war and lvl 15 theif as you get treasure hunter allowing your item drops to be higher.

If you get pld you should make that your main job as you can tank better with pld than war, and you should sub war to this.

                      Re: sub job help

I've found that WAR/MNK is a better tank than PLD until at least the late 20s. Your mileage may vary though.
