To n00b WARs: you are not a PLD

I see this all the time when playing my low level jobs.

-Do not use sword/shield.

But mostly, here is what is really annoying. As I am playing through as PLD I constantly get WARs (usually HUME) who decide I can't tank because I am a Tarutaru. Now, I know Tarutaru have less defense naturally, but I usually have plenty of HQ armor and the sorts to make up for it. If they would just look how much damage they are taking compared to what I take, they'd see that I am taking much less damage than them.

Agreed, but its the same WAR's who refuse to be told any differently. You ever try telling a low lvl WAR ingame that he should use Axe or G.Axe? Hell, I tried once on here to tell an aspiring PLD that while he was leveling WAR he should use one of those rather than sword/shield combo. He got pissed, said it made no difference and he didnt care what anyone thought. If its your goal to be a PLD, thats fine. Just wait to use sword/shield when you're actually leveling your PLD. You'll have no problem skiling sword.

Yeah, I was thinking about this. Gives WAR a Sword, don't even give MNK a weapon. (I know, their fists, but still!) They give BLM a Dagger don't they? Give RDM a Dagger too. (Which isn't a horrid option same skill level as Sword, but the Sword is better.)

I leveled WAR to Lv.12 with Scythe, Great Sword, and Double Thrust. I was preparing for leveling DRK later on, and I used Double Thrust BEFORE the TP nerf. Double Thrust, do decent damage at the level, and have 21% TP return. ^^ But once I started seriously leveling WAR, I went Great Axe. I groan when I see a WAR with a Sword and a Shield, but then again, I'm also groaning to get out of the damn Valkrum Dunes too!

I lost count of how many new wars refuse to use axe or g. axe when I tell them they should switch because of the higher rating.

LOL here's the funny thing:

They expect BLMs to equip staves. Yet, at least for the first 20 or so levels, only clubs have some pretty awesome +INT stats that a BLM would drool over. FREAKING CLUBS!

They give WARs swords. Yet, in their infinite wisdom, they expect a starting player to be able to buy an axe and use that instead before going out to fight something. You know, there's only so much a 50 gil coupon can get you ... or maybe it's nothing at all now.

To top it off, the DRK Flag quest expects you to kill 100 monsters with a Gsword only equippable by WARs and ... DRKs. Since you're using that sword to kill monsters in order to be able to use the DRK job, one can only assume then that you need a WAR to kill the monsters. Can anyone see the flawed logic here? I mean, why don't they make changes to the Advanced Job quests:

In order to obtain the ability to use the PLD, DRK, NIN, SAM, DRG and RNG job classes, you must have WAR job class leveled to 37.

In order to obtain the ability to use the SMN, BRD and BST job classes, you must have WHM job class leveled to 37.

To get a job, you need others pre-leveled first.

mmmmm maybe you should think before you speak, most of the time yeah, a job has a weapon they should use like THF use dagger and PLD use sword and WHM use club, but dont sit there and go "omg noob he wont listen to my leet hax" let the damn WAR use what he wants, he is still doing good damage in the way the game was designed, orderinbg peopel what to do and just do what you are supost to do.

actually sometimes a war need to use a sword at low level.
A sword at low level can be much easier to renkei with.
u can easily make lv2 renkei the fire and light type with monk or thf that use hand 2 hand weapon and a lv2 renkei is better then lv1. when i first play more then 2 years ago.
There are no english version only import japanese version for us and the jp pt i am in mostly has some melee that use a 1 hand sword inorder to renkei lv2 light and fire type.
so blm or maybe even rdm can mb it.

Sword can pass at the dunes level, but higher up the damage and hit percentage is noticeably different.

If I remember correctly, the BLM AF1 is a club also.

I never quite understood why Drks had to unlock their job with a Greatsword as opposed to Scythe either.

No offense to u Taru PLDs, but when i was in the dunes i pty with a taru PLD and i was a mnk/war, and I took less damage then he did. Yet I see them all the time so they can't be that bad. I haven't pted with any since then, and that was at lvl 10. maybe its just in the way u play your character

If the person playing knows what they are doing, Taru PLD's are actually really good. They can keep hate pretty much the whole time constantly casting cure on themselves.
