  • Thinking about raising /nin

Hey all, I am about to raise my nin sub and I was wondering about how you all get your Shihei. Ive looked into crafting it before but it seems very costly to get the crafting levels needed as well as to get the materials to make them. Do you buy them from AH? or Craft with AH bought mats?

Farming isnt that big of a problem but I would rather not do it (lazyness i guess) and I am very much a stickler on money. As you can see I am in quite a predicament so what would you all recomend?

Im curious if it worth the time/money to craft it. Im glad to hear that you guys buy it but Im wondering if it is worth the time and money to craft.

Well, here's the thing. You can make Shehei at Woodworking, Lv.20. I believe it skills up to about Lv.24 or so. The only problem is, it's not cost effective to make. I would only suggest making it if you can HQ it and make it worth your while.

Just watch the AH. Every now and again, Toolbag (shehei) goes "on sale." It will drop big time in price, and then you can buy a butt load of it and save some gil. A few months ago it went from like 10k a toolbag to 6k. So I bought 9 toolbags. I've yet to run through them, but my NIN is only Lv.14, I haven't spent much time leveling the job honestly.

You can also just buy stacks of shihei and mule it to whichever country is in first and have the npc make them for you. On fairy, stacks go for something like 7 or 8k and toolbags go for atleast 10k. Tdh is right on the risk vs. reward of crafting. If you were planning on taking it to 75, then lvling woodworking would be more worthwhile. But, if you're only planning on using it as a sub then you wont be using enough to offset the expenses of lvling the craft to a point where you can frequently HQ them enough to make money back.
