  • Capping multiple weapons

This question sorta spans over multiple jobs....

I like this game of where you can use muiltiple weapons with each job (for me I make sure they are at least B and up grade) For Example, on my Samurai, I level up Polearm as well as Great Katana; On Paladin, I use both Sword and Great Sword*, and on Warrior... Great Axe, Great Sword, but not so much Axe (mainly because I like playing and tanking war/mnk and nothing says damage like a 2 handed weapon... plus I love Counter)

*Yes I know about how Great Sword is gimp for Paladin and blah blah blah... but I also know that it can be done... but mind you my 1hsword has priority

Anyway my concern is with capping multiple weapons... It seems that A rank weapons cap awfully faster then the B rank and while that seems ok... its starting to come to the point where for example, on my warrior at 37, Im trying to cap my great sword* and great axe... (gave up on axe several levels before... not going to go /nin anytime soon or if ever...) and I am having a difficult time skilling up the Great sword... so difficult that my great axe is now behind at 108 (cap is at 114) while my Great sword is at 105 (109 cap) I usually like to keep each weapon cap at least within 3 levels (when it gets to 5 or 6, I switch over to level it) but like I said im behind... Anyone else experience this and have any tips for doing 2 weapons for each job while leveling?

*i use power slash to open Distortion with thief's viper blade

Stop joining an EXP PT and try a skill-up party with some of your friends. Stack up on ACC Gear and Squid Sushi, and get Haste Belt and/or RDM-BRD with Haste/March.

Also, it's a very wise idea to start leveling Axe too. Otherwise, you'll have a tough (or just very long) time trying to cap it when in your 50-60's or even higher.

    Good luck~

I've recently changed to my offical war/nin job so I'll mainly been using Axes (I should start leveling sword :dead. So in PT's when I level up I ask if I can switch to my great axe and cap it up. Once it's capped I just switch to my axes.

Kazuri~ As for skill up parties... what do you recommend for areas around 35+?

And also I have no problem switching weapons when I need to its just when I try to cap a rank B weapon, for example on my Samurai, I'd hit it ok but at times it simply refuses to skill up (sometimes it will only skill up when I do a Weaponskill...) Any ideas on how I can help move it along sides the skill up party in an xp situation?

        Thanks for the responses

I recommend a PT with a healer of some sort (RDM, WHM) along with a buffer like BRD, and maybe another melee(s) if your friends need capping. As for uncrowded places people would usually not be at, Gusgen Mines is a pretty good idea.

Myconids, Gallinippers don't have much strong attacks and are farely easy for a PT of 35's, you'll have time to take out the mob and gain at least a level of skill I guess. Banshees, Wights, and Ghasts are also ok, but be sure to have Silence. Rancid Oozes are also ok if you have plenty of MP for your mages and have lots of melees.

Also, the Gigas' in Korroloka Tunnel would be nice. Just follow along the path taking out every Gigas, then turn back and kill the repops.

          Good luck. ^^

Quick Question... Could me being melee and a healer be able to cap using the giants or are we talking a 6 member pt?

Because they match your level, your healer might run low on MP before you can finish it off, since you won't be doing as much DMG with a capped weapon. I'd advise to take at least 1-2 more melees. ^^

Coffer key hunts are a great place to cap your skill. Head into Sauromugue Champaign and beat on things till you have 100, then join a coffer key hunt. You should cap in no time. Start working on Axes cause at level 55, Rampage is absolutely delicious

I know you said you didn't want to level Axe, but I'm going to have to tell you to level is anyway. It's an important weapon for a WAR and you'll really really need it if you want to get any parties later on, since /MNK becomes obsolete very fast. Don't regret it like I did at 55 and take shitlong to level it, it's not worth the anguish.

                      How to...

I'm a 49 Warrior and just recently started to skillup axe which i left behind ; ; for no viable excuse....where i'm heading to is my Great Axe is capped at 150 and my Axe is at 136, what i would like to know is where and how can i cap or possibly reach 1 or 2 points behind cap for Axe, i decided to post it here to not make a new thread when there is already one happening about my question.

Thank You, Everything will be greatly appreciated

                        Re: Capping multiple weapons

+20 from vikings helps keep up when axe is behind. get 2 of them and be happy. and of course, looking for your 50 cap items will help quite a bit.
