  • What Subjob Should My Warriot Have At Level 18? Please Advise!

Firdt of all i have just started the game yesterday and i am a level 8 warrior Galka.
I just want to know what subjob i should get?
I was think of getting my warrior to level 18 then changing to a paladin. Then using the warrior as a sub job if possible?
Would this be a ok/good combination? Please advise? TIA!

If I were you, I would get a monk up to level 18 so you can get your subjob, then take your Warrior up to level 37, then unlock Pld and level that to your hearts content

you need at least level 30 to accept the paladin quest.

For warrior, with out ninja, use /mnk.

but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

          1) MNK is one of the easiest jobs to start out with. They require little gear, aside from the basics, and dont rely heavily on Job Abilities or Traits from a subjob, untill later in the game.

          2) Having a MNK sub will help you lvl WAR much easier.

          3) Having MNK at 18, gives your WAR a clear ride all the way to 37 (the full sub for a lvl75), and gives you the ability to unlock the advanced jobs. (PLD DRG DRK NIN SAM SMN BRD)

          4) Having a WAR lvl'd to 37 (or atleast 30+) Gives any Melee job a huge advantage in leeway, to keep going. It's REALLY hard to stop lvl'ing a "main job" to catch up on subs. ( I know... I had (and still do have) a hell of a time lvl'ing WHM to sub under BLM and RDM) (RDM being my 1st main, BLM my 2nd)

Right now, im looking at 63RDM/56BLM/28WHM. I am shooting myself for starting out with RDM (which is more difficuly to lvl w/o a sub) rather than whm or blm.

          5) It help you in the long run to have some idea where you want to go in the game. I realize that you just started, and quite possibly have no idea how complex, involved, and truely awesome this game is, and pry dont even have a clue where you want to go.

I see that you want to lvl PLD. That's great, a truely admirable Job. Your sub is even more importaint as a PLD, than as a WAR. WAR gets many options, where as PLD is very limited.

Not trying to overwhelm you here, as i realize i just wronte a lot. take it all in time, and you're sure to have fun. That is the whole point, afterall!

          >> Alauna : yeah...

            Thanks for that!
To be honest i am not even sure what a paladin does! I know it is a fighter with limited magic skills. Can you tell me more on the skills a monk will have? I am seriously considering doing that instead. Would this make my galka more of a tank or a damager?
Also would it be easy to be invited with a mon/war character? Thanks!

MNK uses their fists to deal damage. As a Monk you will gain "Knuckles," and as you might ahve guessed, these are like brass knuckles but there are many different types with differnt stat boosts.

MNK is a damage dealer later in the game, but early on CAN function as a tank if done correctly.

MNK/WAR is one of the safest subs you can have. It increases HP, Strength, and Vitality among otehr things. HP obviously keeps you alive, Strength allows you to do more damage, Vitality will be used later to heal yourself after you can teh Job Ability "Chakra."
MNK/WAR will not get you fast invites later on because there is an overabundance of melee jobs, as you can imagine, so melee jobs all must fightfor positions in a party.

This site: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/spelllist.html?job=monk can give you all the abilities for MNK and can be used to see what a Paladin and a Warrior has as well.

If fast invites is what you are looking for, then Paladin will get you more invites. A paladin's job is to tank the monster (take all teh damage if you arent familiar with the lingo ;p ) and keep teh rest of teh party alive. They rely mostly on Provoke, the Warrior Job Ability which makes the monster attack you, and their Cure spells. A Paladin would not be a damage dealer and their spells are supportive, not offensive.

I hope that gives you some ideas, feel free to ask more.

go /whm so you can heal yourself, or /blm so you can nuke.

I kinda want to be a damager really....
Can i level up a whm and switch after battle instantly to cure myself or do you have to go somewhere to do that?
Thanks on the above. Much appreciated!

Dont sub WHM, that was a joke. If you're talking about PLD, thats what a PLD does. THey Cure themselves to keep the monster from attacking others.

                        oh i know!
what i meant can you level a whm/rdm/thf to a certain level and change it later in the game. E.g you lose a lot of hp during a batle u won. But u can swutch to whm to cure yourslf, then back to war?

You'd have to travel into town and switch jobs, at which point youd be full healed anyway... Just use teh /heal command to recover your MP/HP

                            Mnk to 18 > War to 30 > Nin to 37 > Rng to 75

Only way to go if you want to be a DD ^_^.
Of course you have to do a little bit of farming ( actually thats what you'll be doing majority of the time). But thats the prize you get for being the strongest melee/range DD in the game.

RNG isnt the be all end all... you dont have to be a RNG to be a DD...
