I'm fiending for that WAR beatdown again...couple items I have my sights on to parse/wear out/beat to death...

Umm...Umm... CoP is fun? Damn, no, talk you out of it...sorry,
cant do it. Come back and test the waters. If its the same ole stuff ya left because of then jet, if not, stay and own some weapons later on.

If your issue is still going to be gear diversity, then don't bother. Top shelf WAR gear remains what it was, the only notable additions have been Barone feet, legs until you get a Haidate, Warwolf Belt (great piece of gear, that one is), and Knightly Mantle as a cheap Beh. Mantle substitute. Also, note that exp 63~75 is the same as exp 1~62, the grind is very harsh. IMO endgame as a WAR is very fun and rewarding if you make it there and find a good group, but the journey is tough and there's not a lot of tweaking to do to amuse yourself on the way. From 59~60 to 68~69 there are almost no gear swaps (Amemit Mantle, Fransisca), then after 69 there are no gear swaps unless you get the really good stuff (god set, various abjuration pieces, few other things).

However if you just wanna come back to enjoy WAR, it's the same as it ever was, horribly overpowered in EXP and very nice on events and HNMs.

With Steel Cyclone, there's a lot of testing to be done since it's modifiers are STR and VIT, and also there's a cap (I believe somewhere around +40, varries from WS to WS also I believe). So putting togeather the "perfect" setup to prase could be exciting.

However, most of the items are 75 equipable, most of the items need a HNM LS to get, and basically the only time you do Steel Cyclone is against HNM. Sooo, yeah.

Maybe this doesnt mean much..

but a lot of warriors really look up to you and the things you have tested/done for warriors. I quit 3 months ago and lost my character and just came back. The CoP Missions really have me dying to level up.

(not that anyone cares but...) AT the time FFXI first came out, I was working 2 jobs while trying to keep an active family life with my wife and 2 year old son (turns 4 in 2 weeks, how time flies!) so it felt like FF was getting in the way and I needed to find reasons not to play.

Things have changed, promotion at work and wife graduated (found a great job), so no need to work 2 jobs anymore. My son demands less attention now that he can pretty much do everything on his own, so I find myself with a lot of free time.

During my free time I've thought about getting back into an MMORPG. EQ1 - beat it (basically), EQ2 - still very buggy, WoW - possibly once more content is added, FFXI - Never got to that upper echelon that I did in EQ, and that has me wanting to finish it off.

Ditto what Aria said. I had always been set on WAR anyway, but the posts you contributed really cemented that desire. Ironically, they also compelled me to stop playing WAR. I'm now lvling BST and Fishing first so I have ample gil to make my WAR as destructive, efficient, and capable a killing machine as possible when I go back to levelling it.

Well, I've been to the upper echelon that you speak of. Not as warrior, but as both White Mage and Black Mage. I doubt it's anywhere as massive as EQ1's, but with the new "sea" coming out and Sky, there are some crazy things to see and do. I don't think you can say you've lived til you've been to sky
