  • Why Woodville main, Juggernaut sub?

    Simple question, as stated by the thread title.

    Just wondering how using woodville main is better than using juggernaut? I assume this is related somehow to WS damage?

    While woodvilles had higher D, and 1 more STR, what about the +30 attack from the juggernaut?

    Plz educate me^^

    +ATK benefits your overall offense. So the Woodville would be getting that +30 ATK also.

      What he is asking is whether having Woodvilles in the main hand would increase Weapon Skill damage because it has four more D than Juggernaut.

      To semi-answer the question, I don't believe it matters but I can't say for sure. I think the equation for damage factors in the combined D of the two.

        I was under the impression that the weaponskill damage was based off of your main hand weapon. You could test this by taking a high level axe and a low level axe, and using them both on mobs close to your level. If the damage remained the same, with both axes as main, then you could assume the formula is an average of main/sub. If the higher damage axe gave higher weaponskill damage (which I assume), then the formula is main hand. If it went the other way...well, I'd be confused. -_-

        There is also the possibility that the damage is an average of main/sub, but leaning more to the main hand side. EX:

        Main Hand Damage = MD
        Sub Hand Damage = SD
        Damage = D

        [ ( MD * 2 ) + SD ] / 2 = D

        For all we know, the formula could vary depending on NIN main or NIN sub (we all know SE tries to confuse us), so a few different tests may be required.

        Hell, maybe someone already did this, and I just never saw it.

        And yes, the status bonuses are added to your base stats, not to the stats of your weapon.

          Having +30 ATK on your axe is the same as having it from gloves, or a headpiece etc... It affects both weapons. Weaponskill damage is based off your main hand weapon, so the weapon with higher DMG will give you better WS damage.
