  • Hume Warriors in FFXI.

I really want to make a Hume Warrior in FFXI but I have a few questions.

Will not picking a race like Galka for a Warrior character in FFXI be a big disadvantage?

Is there any gear that only Humes can equip that would really help?

I really do wish I had Galka stats, but Hume is still good. The STR/DEX/VIT difference isn't that big, though I really wish I had their HP.

    As for your second question.

    Hands:
    Custom M Gloves- lv27 DEF:6 HP+12 MP+4 STR+3 DEX+3 VIT-1 AGI-1

    Feet:
    Marine M Boots- lv62 DEF:9 HP+60 STR+3 DEX+3 VIT+2 AGI+2 INT-3 MND-3 CHR-3

    Waist:
    Ocean Belt- lv50 DEF:4 HP+30 STR+3 DEX+2 INT-5
    Ocean Sash- lv70 DEF:6 HP+45 STR+4 INT-4

Most people say that it is the player behind the character that makes all the difference. To that I say:

      GALKAS RULES HAHAAA

No really though there's nothing wrong with being a Hume Warrior. In fact, I got Tarutaru warrior to 52 and built quite a reputation because of my gear and play-style. It's all up to you and being a Hume shouldn't stop you at all from being a top warrior. Warrior is a great class, play it to have fun and you'll see.

I believe that Humes were built for most anything. WAR job is a good choice my only suggestion is instead of using swords and whatnot try axes and great axes. They really make a difference.

Galka were built for jobs like WAR, MNK and such, but their increased STR and VIT take away from magical jobs like BLM and WHM. They built hume for variety, not Galka, heh.

        It's your decision!
TAROT: Elvaan female: WHM 31, BLM 16, WAR 18, BRD: 11, MNK 7.
        Server: Phoenix
        RETIRED!!!!

Galka is the best WAR. Before endgame stats don't really matter and at endgame on HNMs the most important WAR stats are VIT and HP and Galka totally owns both. The VIT difference is basically a free piece of Koenig and the HP difference is about 200. However is it enough of a difference so that hume WAR isn't workable? No. Skill > Gear >>>>>> Race. The main time I wish I was Galka is when Byakko is cute and decides to do Diaga III, then triple attack, then immediately Razor Fang or Claw Cyclone, full health to ~100hp in 2 seconds. But hey, that's going to ruin nearly anyone's day. On any other mob I don't really care, it doesn't make a real difference.

Hume warriors are fine, Im currently playing one myself. However, I'll admit that Im only levelling warrior at the moment to get a high melee level for it to be a stepping stone to an advanced class, probably to go NIN/WAR, then RNG/NIN.

Of course, if this doesnt happen, ie I get bored with tank/melee, I can do something else, like a mage class, Humes are versatile - you wont be the best warrior out there, but you certainly wont be the worst.

            Which FF Character Are You?

Hm, are the Marine Boots better than War AF Boots with the enhance Double Attack?

                IMO:

Hume RSE are for WS, AF for TP build up. I don't believe Double Attack fires off on WS anymore (From my own experience, and talking to other WARs (Both JP and NA)), so it's pointless to wear AF then.

I perfer AF for TP build up because Double Attacks is one of the main reason I love WAR so much.

If you're tanking fast attacking things like spiders though, then RSE would help a hell of a lot. +60 HP...:O

Um. I've been playing none at all except to log on for LS events once or twice a week where I am always tanking and thus not worrying about DDing, so I have had no chance to notice a WS difference. When did this happen? If it's true it sucks, that was a very nice bonus to WAR or WAR sub, and it's how Rampage and Raging Rush hit high damage numbers. Ah well.

The last patch. No other WAR I've talked to has had it happen for them since then. Talked to a GM and he said that he couldn't reveal ingame machanics and to look on the PoL websites (Which ofcoarse has nothing). When I talked to a JP WAR friend about it, he said it could no longer happen. I'm not sure if SE told JP or if he just came to that conclusion himself, but I've yet to hear somebody who's had it happen to them.

They deffinatly atleast nerfed it. Considering all the countless Steel Cyclone's I've done in the past month in sky, I should have atleast gotten one (And since it's one hit, it's easily noticable if it goes off), but never did.

Deffinatly pissed though. If it is true, SE should have atleast said something. If it isn't true, then that's one hell of a bad luck streak all the WAR's are having.

I've had Double Attack still going off during Weapon Skills on my Monk recently...haven't seen many on my Warrior yet.

double attack goes off WS even now that I tested it.
                        It's rarer maybe, not sure.

And WS goes off both weapons if you dual wield. If you dual wield say axe and sword, after WS, you can gain a sword skill in your off hand.

So my theory is that dual wield WS = more chance of double attack.

As for Galka war, HNM tanking isn't really your main job... sometimes you will do it, but more or less, other stats have their uses.

Oh god, my head, the pain. Check PM Nny sur

Anyways I didn't notice a double attack difference today, at least in the sense that Rampage still did the ~800 I expect on exp mobs, sometimes spiking to as high as 1100. So like, if double attack wasn't nerfed, I got a damage buff ;p

                            Hmmm Hume warrior is fine
I am a Mithra warrior and I like to think I do just as good as any other race at it.
The vit isnt that big a deal end game I have lower Vit than a Galka but when I get hit it isnt like the damage difference is huge or anything.
I would like to have their HPs for AOEs and such but as long as the WHMs can keep you healed after an AOE you are fine I have yet to have Kirins 2 hour kill me from full HPs.
the difference race makes for a melee in this game is minimal the only reason it can make a difference for mage is because of MP difference which is much larger than the HP difference between races.
                            The end
