PO:: WAR Weapons

As a normal WAR, what do you all like to use as weapons

Sword and Board?

Dual Swords?

Dual Axes?

G. Sword?

G. Axe?

Scythe?


you dont have to go into what sub you are useing or anything, just what weapon you like and why.

Me I just like useing dual Swors, tell you the truth though, I dont know why :p

Sword/Shield when tanking, or Axe/shield.
-To pump my def and use all my defensive combat skill.-

G axe when I am DD.
-I love G axe...-

Dual sword/axe when I am blink WAR tank.
-I prefer using dual weapon if I subbed NIN... just a weird habit of mine-

Great Axe when I'm needed to do major damage

I hate nin sub, but probably dual axes

at the current i wield Woodville's and Juggernaut. The goal is Rildil and Joyeuse

G sword is just sexah~ but I would suggest duel 1 handed axes when yur tankin with Ninja subbed. [sky] has spoken

No, and Joyeuse isn't anything special either. I own Joyeuse, and it's "meh."

Fafnir's mean though and we're 2/52 on Ridill drops, but watching the WAR with Ridill in my LS....on EXP mobs, HNM, high NM, ect. I don't think it's worth using it over an axe either. The skill point diference is huge. With capped sword merits I'm sure it'd be beter (+12 skill), but I haven't seen it yet.

On low mobs though, both weapons are really good. However then, rampage is rape and not worth loosing.

As for the question at hand....Great Axe by far.

everyone knows Staff is the best damage dealing weapon at level 10 you get Rock Crusher, you can deal like a whole 20 damage = pwnage!!!!

Though it looks like you can potentially raise any weapon six times (for a total of +12 skill) the max you can do is four (skill+8). I have Axe Skill and Sword Skill raised a max of three times each (so, +6 to each skill) but I'm dropping one level of Axe for Sword. Not only to make Joyeuse better for Warrior but for all the benefits it will bring my Paladin. I agree that Joyeuse is only "meh" for Warrior but it's certainly much better that I always assumed it would be. I got it for my Bard and was pleasently suprised when using it on my Warrior, no one can deny it's fun doing three quad hits in a row.

Also, don't forget about Suppanomimi. With max merits and said earring equipped your Sword skill would be 263, only slightly under what our Axe skill is.

You have to remember though, those are points that could have gone to Axe or Great Axe to make them even better.

Hearing you can only raise it 4 times is a real downer. I've raised Great Axe 3 times and was hoping to do it all 6. I my Great Axe.

Joyeuse + Suppanomimi and other haste gear is still really fun though on low mobs, expecially with march or haste (or even better, both).

And Joyeuse has it's uses on higher mobs. I use it with a shield for tanking Aspid because I get both March and Haste, so it's serious non-stop attacking for good hate and quick TP build. Axe in off-hand puts on too much delay for a situation like that in my opinion.

However, I always hear people talking about how awesome Joyeuse and/or Ridill are, and they really aren't as good as people make them out to be. They still are very good, I just think they're overrated.

I think double axes are better, cause you get that one move Rampage in your level 50's. It does over like 500 dmg a hit. 0o;

Anyway, like Lady Peorth said, I think the best is to use whatever the party needs... Though, I'd personally prefer a G axe, because it's my favorite.

Dude you guys dont know anything til you duel wield SHIELDS! You can like be TEH ULTIMATE L33T TANK! The wall! Not to mention you can also Dbl Shield Bash to get more hate. Bam bam *smacks monster with shield*

at level 75 these are some of the best offensive possibilites IMO

G.Axe 276 + 8 (merrit 4) = 284 skill
or
Axe 269 + 8 (merrit 4) + 5 (BeastlyEaring) = 281 skill
or
Sword 250 + 8 (merrit 4) + 5 (Suppanomi) = 263 skill

As Russta pointed out you can only get one of these up to the 4th tier or have two at the the 3rd etc.

Pondering now, is the extra attacks from the multiple attack swords and getting "Dual Wield" enhancement off the earing worth it over the possible skill difference if I went with axe or great axe...

Oh well, its nice to have options, hehe. Wish they would just introduce an axe or great axe that sometimes attacks twice or thrice^^
