  • WAR/NIN at 40. No more main-tanking?

In most of my PTs that I have been joining, I am the "first voker" for SAnTA. But in other PTs, I am asked to main-tank, which ticks me off since my gear is towards the "DD" side of warriors.

At 40, this will be my equipment:

    Main: Combat Caster's Axe
    Sub: Razor Axe
    Range: Long Boomerang
    Head: Emperor Hairpin
    Neck: Spike Necklace
    Ear1: Beetle Earring +1
    Ear2: Beetle Earring +1
    Body: Royal Squire's Chainmail
    Hands: Royal Squire's Mufflers / Ogyo's(sp?) Bracelets (can't decide)
    Ring1: Sniper's Ring
    Ring2: Sniper's Ring
    Back: Nomad's Mantle +1
    Waist: Warrior's Belt +1
    Legs: Royal Squire's Breeches
    Feet: Leaping Boots

Since most of my equipment comes from previous jobs like my SAM and RNG, I already have them at my disposal.

Pretty much, this equipment is leaning towards the pure "DD" side of the warrior. And the -20 DEF loss from the Snipers should basically say, "I'm no tank."

So, are WAR/NINs at 40 still considered as main tanks? I wouldn't mind being a "first voker" for SAnTA since I can easily do that and that'll be another reason why to invite me <(*'-'*)>

    Thank you for any feedbacks.

If there are no PLD or NIN seeking, you can bet your butt you'll be main tank. You're gonna just have to live with it and deal. have 2 sets of eq, one for tanking and one for DD. That way, you'll always be prepared.

    Thanks Yyg!

tanking gear is basically switching out the rings anyways
Most memorable WoW vent convos on Burning Legion:

      "Dude...I just wrote a sonnet, about taking a dump." - Kronos (2006)

"Guys, I just set my oven on fire by trying to cook ramen in it, and broke the fire alarm with a frying pan. I think I'm in trouble." - Brawny (2006)

"But Hisdon, why wouldn't you want The Unblockable Shield - wait a minute..." - Sasukekun (2005)

Get two DEX (or VIT) rings, two Drone Earrings (AGI+3), fish mithkabobs and learn to recast your shadows between hits.

        You'll be asked to tank.

Yeah, I was asked to tank yesterday when there were no PLD and NINs seeking for party.

True, lol. Guess I'll have to keep these Deft Rings in my inventory until my "main-tanking" days are over (soon..hopefully ><)

Pretty much for tanking, I'll be using two Deft Rings, a Drone Earring, and a Genin Earring. But do I have to use Fish Mithkabob? Or can I just still use the Meat Mithkabobs?

          Thanks for the feedback, guys.

Your just going to have to get 2 sets of equipment. Equip macros will be your friend. Even when DD and setting up SATA, it's better to switch to def/vit gear during that short time. Save the mages some MP to chain with. This is the main reason why I have my WAR on hold. It can be costly getting DD and tanking armor. If you really want to play your job well, that's what you have to do.

Fish Mithkabobs if you're being hit a lot and become a MP sponge.

Meat Mithkabobs if you have no problem blink tanking (Haste on+ Elegy + Stun on the monster eventually.)

Just never use Defender until everything else failed, it'd gimp your damage output so much you'd lose aggro instantaneously. (sp.?)

I find a phalanx ring and mermaid ring help for tanking.

Phalanx is 50 and mermaid is 43, so 40 > then i'd go for VIT or AGI, DEX seems kinda off.. more crits ?
