  • Sniper ring usefullness in question

Im currently lvl 53 war and my 2 snipers seem to do less and less for me. So far im decked out with all acc gear that i could buy with haubergeon waiting for me. My question is...all you higher lvl war...do you use snipers?, do they work well for you if you do?. Ever since I got aggressor my acc problems have all but vanished. Am i correct in assuming agressor is 15-20 acc boost?. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Amazing what one will do to level Blacksmith in this game -.-

I used Sniper's until 72, and sold them and swapped to Ruby Rings. At 75 the only time I wish I had Sniper's back now is for HNMs. I used every bit of ACC I could the whole way leveling, but in hindsight the Sniper's were probably unnecessary, but I don't regret having had them.

Spend a few hours using Chrysoberyl Rings instead, see if you notice any real difference. I did that with Ruby vs. Sniper's at 72 and noticed no difference except on my WS, where Ruby made them noticeable stronger.

Also, I've heard Aggressor referred to as -25 EVA, +25 ACC, and that "feels" about right, it's an incredible ability regardless of the actual numbers. It's definitely a large amount of ACC in any case.

I know a lot of other warriors do not agree, but IMO snipers are required equipment. Aggressor is a great ability. But you should not use it as a crutch.

If you rely on it to hit, your TP gain will be uneven.

I didn't buy one until 59. I noticed a big jump in evasion from raptors and perytons. 60+ all of a sudden acc+ is important.

Let me add to my previous comments by saying I greatly dislike Viking Axes and didn't offhand one. So for me Sniper's were great for a long time. If you are willing to offhand a Viking for a while I don't think you need Sniper's. This is based on that my ACC in exp never went under 80% and was usually a fair bit more, and I never offhanded Viking, but always had Sniper's.

On that note, you don't need both. Either offhand a Viking or use Sniper's and a better offhand axe, but not both.

Do you guys know how much ACC does focus give?
Ive been going WAR/MNk lately and will soon have acces to both acc+ abilities. If i alternated aggressor and focus would i still need snipers that bad? or would you recomened STR+ rings?

On another note (i'm gonna hi jack this trhead). Since i picked up WAR again ive only been getting invites to be a DD and not once invited to tank (i swear to ppl i can tank and they still tell me: we gonna wait for a pld or nin to show up  ). Anyways at those times i rather sub THF for SA Sturmwind...mi q is: How well does WAR/THF work for later on and to what lvls is it accepted that i do that? I thought of using WAR/MNk as DD since i could have a permanent ACC boost but with WAR/MNk my WS damage is just far better.

I skipped sniper rings completely all the way to 74 and use viking axe on 2nd hand whenever I don't have a BRD in the party.

From my parser runs, sniper rings benifits DRK and SAM the most in terms of hitting.

Do you need it? IMO, no but it is consider a must-have item by most elite players.

Focus + Aggressor is very nice. You can use one ability right after the other with virtually no accuracy issue. It is too bad WAR/MNK is being overshadowed by WAR/NIN as either tank or DD.

                  Nothing is a "required equipment."

People did play the game before Sniper Rings were invented.

I'd have to agree with this but it still helps to have that extra +10 acc regardless of what melee job you are.
