The difference Byakko's Haidate makes

This was on my Bard while hunting Bonnacon but the principle for Warrior is the same only slower. I had noticed my critical hit rate go up excessively as soon as I hit 75 with Warrior and equiped Byakko's Haidate so I decided to do some testing tonight. I guess you could say it's obvious that adding DEX+15 would increase critical hit rate but even I didn't anticipate this at all, was merely thinking of added accuracy and haste.

I started salivating the first time i saw Byakko's Haidate on an equipment list, and i dont think ill stop till i can get my hands on this bad boy. Im very far from it i know, but its nice to see that it is as awsome as i had hoped it would be!

Very interesting, Russta. Do you think this kind of effect is reserved for end-game, "over-the-top" Dex? Or is it possible for a mid-lvl War to have this Critical Hits at this frequency?

As a Mithra War/Mnk, now I'm tempted to mix in a healthy amount of Dex+, to see if I can score more crits. I currently concentrate on Str+, Att+ and Acc+. But...

yeah i was looking at this pants, and they look pretty good..

you get 1.5 more acc than from thick gear, loses the little attack but raises critical hit chance and abit haste..

also its cooler to run around with some rare/ex gear then some normal gear everyone have.

In a way I believe that yes it is reserved for end game. Though I think it would be possible to get to this stage of critical hit rate as a mid level warrior you would need to sacrifice so much to do it. Right now, at level 75, I have Accuracy+52 and DEX+20 and all I had to do was sacrifice the stats of Thick Pants for it. I am at the point where I can take off my Sniper Rings and not even notice the difference, if you tried that at 40 you'd probably struggle a fair bit.

I also saw a noticeable increase in crit shots after getting Byakko's Haidate. Very easy to notice with /nin and Ridill/Joyeuse combo. For example the other day I was doing 5AA BC and all 4 hits in a single round of attack against AA EV were crits. I thought I had turned on Mighty Strikes for a moment there hehe. Every end-game WAR should make it their mission to get these pants. I value them just as much as my Osode and Ridill.

I been using it on RNG... seriously around 40% of my attacks are Critcals at this point, got Osode and Haidate which is +25 DEX, pretty sick

.... have you tried equipping a Lightning staff and seeing if that increases ranged crits as well, by chance?

Not sure that'd be worth it. Losing 20 ranged acc is huge, unless you have a bard for prelude. That being said, if you had a bard, you could just use 2x archers and have him sing minuet - Ranged crits arent very good to begin with

Hey Russta, kinda OT question, but how hard is it to lvl up taru War?

I've finally got Drk to 75, and was looking to do other jobs. With the sudden overflow of Nin it's kinda depressing to also take Nin now.

Would Taru War be more DD than tank?

It's nice too cause with my Drk gear, which also a war can use, I have +21 Dex.. ( adaman hauberk) be nice if add +15 from haidate ontop of that. Also have +53 Accuracy without snipers. Been using Str rings a lot.

I don't know how "fairly" I can answer this question. For a start, I leveled in a set from 12 to 60 then another from 60 to 71 then went it on my own from there. How my invites would've been during that time I'm not sure but I got to 75 pretty darn quickly on my own and was getting invites on my Warrior faster than any other job. However, and I realise how pretentious this will probably seem, I do occasionally get invited because my reputation preceeds me. I was once asked to tank in a party while anon in Lufaise as Bard because "I have Kirin's Osode". I'd suggest making your own parties all the way if you know what you can get away with. Past 59 just get a Bard and tank yourself, that's what I do these days. Warrior isn't the most popular job so use that to your advantage when building parties and have fun.
