LV40 Tanking gear

I'm makin a sorta set pt with some of my RDM set members, my uh...mithra girl, and it's WAR (me) BRD SMN DRK SAM

so yeah i'm gonna be tanking, i wanted to know what rings and earrings to wear basically

i was thinking for rings, a sniper ring and a mermaid ring, both to allow me to keep hate

for earrings i have 2 beetle +1s for attack, and just got a dodge earring and a drone for tanking..

any problems with this? i'm only 39 so at the moment i'm using 2 vit rings instead of the sniper and mermaid, btw.

also any suggestions on how to keep hate appreciated

I'm gonna assume you're a WAR/NIN. WAR/NIN's really gain aggro through damage (along with the standard voke 30 every 30 secs ^^), so I'd say...

Never use a sniper's ring for tanking, the -DEF isn't worth it. Buy yourself a Courage (STR+2) Ring to help you hold hate. You're a Mithra so your dex is good anyhow and you get Aggressor in 6 levels.

WAR's are terrible at evading anything, so stick with Beetle +1's.

And for hate gaining, don't forget Warcry. It's a second provoke basically and the mob will pretty much always turn to you when you fire it. Berserk comes with some enmity too, but turn if off when you lose your 6 shadows. If Kurayami: Ichi sticks that works too

I really wouldn't suggest a Sniper. You're 5 levels away from aggressor and no more accuracy problems, and the -10 DEF will hurt. I'd suggest keeping 1 VIT ring all the way as a WAR (If you read PLD forums, they suggest getting Phalanx ring at 50. Unlike PLDs though, WARs have really low VIT so it is better to raise for us). Though if you have enough money, you can get both and use Sniper when Utsusemi is up (if you're /NIN). Deffinatly get the Mermaids Ring though.

I'd suggest keeping the Beetle's earring. Dodge earring is near-pointless for a WAR with our D rating, and though Drone is good, Beetle is better for hate keeping.

Hate keeping is hard, but from 50-55 you're going to probably have real problems when that DRK gets another attack bonus. Just wait until 55 when you get Rampage.

Then at 60 when the BRD gets Carnage Elegy.
