intrested in taru war/nin.....need advice

ive always had this problem with ff.......i can never choose a job that i really like. I would play the game, and once i got a job to 20 , i would go "man, i really cant see myself enjoying this job past 30." the only job i was ever intrested (my char is a taru btw) is war. Now, i am really, really intrested in the idea of a taru

war/nin. but i have questions:

my war is currently 30, and i have yet to get the NIN subjob.
-Is it absolutely impeccable to have tanking gear AND attacking gear pre level 40? i.e from lvl 32-40 could i get by just having one set of gear (altho it will be the "best" gear i can get. not gimpy gear)

-my great axe skill is lvl 0 and my axe is almost done. Where would a good place be to skill up gaxe / axe until they were capped?

-How bad are the costs of war/nin in the long run? per level? per session?

-How are the invites? sporadic? consistent? hardly ever?

- as a taru war, what equips should i be looking for @ lvl 30?

Regarding tanking and attacking gear, no, it's usually enough to have attacking gear. Especially if you're a Taru, most people won't ask you to tank.

Just go through the places where you lvled before to lvl GAX. Sub WHM to cure yourself and choose the lowest delay gax you can find. Eventually though, you'll come to a point where you can't solo the mobs anymore....bring your GAX into the PT (if it's reasonably close to the cap) and sub THF to make sure it at least hits once per min

Regarding cost, depends on what you mean. PT to PT costs aren't too bad. A stack of shihei every once in a while and meat mithkabobs. For equipment, pretty much whatever a DRK gets we will get (Haubergeon, etc). A stack of meats will probably run you about 2 PTs or so. Same with shihei

Invite experiences vary from person to person. Some have it easy, some have it tough. Fastest way to lvl is still to make your own PTs.

Taru makes a fine melee with right equipments. my Taru war is lv 55 ( 4k til my mark ^^). i have no problem keeping up with my elvaan war in my static. just a note that, i boost my str as high as i can. i do not have any accuracy problem so most of my assesories are all toward str.

taru DD's just dont cut it (no offense), i PT'ed a taru DRK last night, his spinning slash did 300-400 on average, and i PT'd a hume DRK this morning, his spiinning slash did 800-1000,

they had the same gear, were the same level and we were fighting the same mobs in the same setup,

as for WAR, i do 600-900+ on average for rampage dual weild,

from what i heard, a certain taru war only does 400 max

haha no way... if the taru was doing 300 spin its because he was /war. A well equipped taru WAR isnt going to do 400 rampages if you're doing 600-900+. There's just NO way thats true. Taru taru WAR can be really good. Dont be discouraged by anything.

no, the taru DRK was subbing THF, fully levelled thf sub, using SATA on the pld while i had hate,

and that 400 rampage thing, im serious, 2 people even quit that guys static cuz he was doing to little damage

I've never seen a WAR do more than 600 on a rampage on an IT. And I agree, there's no way a Taru would be doing that little DMG in such a consistant basis.

its obvious that you are exagerating. race doesn't have that big of an impact on the job. i've partied with a taru warrior that would out dmg me when was lvlin up my warrior (taru RSE is crazy :sweat: ) . anys with the right equipment you can do great dmg, but you definatly won't be tanking.
