Elvaan Melees... call me biased, but...

I remember hearing a lot how Elvaans are kinda crippled as melees by low DEX. I have experienced dry spells myself at times with misses galore. But, I was thinking that maybe Elvaans are actually the best melees (damage wise). Why? Because there is so much +ACC gear out there. Yes, much of it is expensive as hell, but with the exception of +ATT, I can't think of any other stat in the game that has such a high variety/quality in item occurence. Complementing this with the Elvaan's high natural strength, I think that maybe Elvaans are the best damage dealing class (assuming the gil is there).

Well, I agree. Ideally high STR is the most desireable stat for a melee, ACC IS very easy to raise (not cheap, but easy) and there's the BRD job to factor in as well

However, there are other factors. Like DRK being reliant on high HP for Soul Eater, SAM being most concerned with TP gain, good MNKs often grabbing hate, etc. Not to mention "real world" factors such as imperfect tanking, miniscule numbers of BRDs, and emergency situations where a DD is forced to tank... I think you see where I'm heading :p

For WAR specifically, Galka are the best race. Our job serves double duty, both dealing and taking damage. Galka have the most balanced melee stats for this versatile job.
