  • Damage Log results, suprise!

I'm not posting these results to flame or say "X job sucks!". I am posting this for the people who refuse to believe that WAR outdamage DRK.

    What you will see here:
    Bigokk: WAR/NIN
    Revan: PLD/WAR
    Coen: SAM/WAR
    Zeige: BLM/WHM
    Jeryhn: SMN/WHM
    Banigaru: BRD/NIN

People swap in and out, add:
    Leah: RDM/BLM
    Doomblade: DRK/THF
    Zicrod: PLD/WAR
    Tamarachi: WHM/BLM

Everyone was 55-57 and the PT lasted for a few hours.

    http://www.homestead.com/darxil1/files/6-15-04.rtf

After Banigaru left, I was pulling so I would leave before the crab was dead and once I got back with another while they were still killing the previous one (hence the one that says I did 3200 dmg on one crab, because I was off-tanking it while they finished the first one).

    Comments?

I could have saved the damage parse from last night when we partied with a WAR/SAM. 53% of the time she outdamaged me, 47% of the time I outdamaged her. I don't really need to explain how a WAR/SAM is able to outdamage any DRK/WAR, regardless of equipment, do I?

Do I feel inferior when the WAR does 1k damage in a fight and I do 800? Nah. I don't really need to be validated as 'THE UBER DMG DEALER!1!1!' to feel like I've performed my job well. Without Vorpal Scythe -> Raging Rush (we were fighting raptors and Fragmentation is not an acceptable Skillchain), the WAR would not have been able to perform as well. The Skillchain is far more important than me engaging Souleater and soloing Guillotine every 5 minutes just to prove how much better DRK is than WAR!

As old as this gets, people still try to justify why one character class is better than another. WAR is an extrememely useful class, and Aggressor alone will cause you to outdamage all melees in your party while that effect is active. The sheer versatility of WAR's choices of subjobs make is a superior damage dealer, especially 0-60. If you sub NIN, you can go apeshit as long and as often as you want with no concerns of stealing aggro, though /NIN won't be your most damageing subjob if you're not tanking. I suspect you would have outperformed everyone much farther with MNK, THF, or SAM subjobs.

There seems to be some innate need from MNK, DRK, and WAR, especially in the 50s to talk about how much better they than everyone else, when the truth of the matter is that it's all about party situation. I don't generally hear SAM and DRG ruffling their tail feathers every time another melee comes by because they understand their party roles.

    *shrug*

    Edit: I forgot to mention the WAR was Mithra and had about 90% accuracy (i'm guessing because of aggressor) while I had 66% accuracy ; ;

      Long dissertation aside Mithrael,

Have you ever considered why WARs and MNKs feel the "need" to shove this shit down DRKs throats?

DRKs (clueless ones, not all), have long slapped WARs and MNKs in the face with their visions of grandeur. Because of DRK penis-swinging, every other melee has been living in the shadow they've cast, and we've had to fight to prove ourselves and combat the "basic-job" stigma.

Fact is: DRKs aren't king shit. They really aren't all that special. Good luck getting an average DRK to admit that.

      Good data Bigokk.

DRK is like the Shadow Knight of FFXI, not only stat wise, but also both are pretty much not liked ;/ (course difference is we actually do something XD)

I'm just posting the results of my PT last night. Been a while since I grouped with a DRK, and I was beginning to doubt I was doing as much damage as I thought I was. This was my monthly parse check and it just so happened that a DRK joined the PT after my parse had already began.

The SAM/WAR was participating in 2 Skillchains per battle, one with me and one with the DRK, but the SAM was having some accuracy problems or I think he could have been up there with both of us.

This wasn't a "I'm going to show everyone that we rule and they drool!" I was just posting my log results...

No doubt that Berserk/Last Resort/Souleater/Guillotine will do a hell of a lot of damage, it's just not viable in a normal PT situation.

But, 55-60, in a normal PT environment, WAR/NIN with Rampage will outdamage DRK/* using Vorpal Scythe in the SC.

Once DRK gets Guillotine at 60, this will probably change.

I'm not arguing what job is better. The DRK was casting Aspir and Drain and absorb spells...maybe if he wasn't casting he would have outperformed me? No idea.

If you sub NIN, you can go apeshit as long and as often as you want with no concerns of stealing aggro, though /NIN won't be your most damageing subjob if you're not tanking. I suspect you would have outperformed everyone much farther with MNK, THF, or SAM subjobs.
This is not correct 50-60. /NIN is my greatest damage output subjob when in attack mode (not tanking).

Once I hit 60 and get Raging Rush, I will parse with /THF /MNK and /SAM against /NIN and also provide those results as well, but as of right now at 58, /NIN is the most damaging sub.

              Very impressive

You do have pretty nice equip (no Assault earring though?). I think you might need to elaborate on the equipment of the competition to help validate these numbers.

That said, these results tend to mirror my own experience after getting Aggressor. I've never parsed any parties, but it pretty much seemed like damage-wise WAR is pretty damn close to DRK and MNK. DRK hits a bit harder per hit with scythe, but their accuracy is not as good as ours (and I always stack Aggressor and Berserk for maximum damage at the period of max accuracy).

I just got 58 and logged off at the AH. Checked AH as I was logging, 1 Assault Ear for sale, normal proce is 150, I bid 150 and it wasn't accepted so I will get it tonight when I log on.

                EDIT:
(and I always stack Aggressor and Berserk for maximum damage at the period of max accuracy).
I used to use one at a time, but have recently done the same thing as you and I think it may be the best way to go.

Nice post, always fun readin logs.

At least 55-60, a war/nin will in most parties kill faster than DRK and maybe MNK on crabs.

                      I was in a PT with PLD/WAR, DRK/WAR, and WAR/THF (me).

I tanked 70% of the fight. :x PLD couldn't keep hate off of me. Second time I wasn't a tank in the PT (and the first time I felt more like support since I was spamming breaks). REALLY changed my mind about WARs and damage dealing. And getting that 350 Sturmwind with Sneak Attack + Berserk + Warcry + Double Attack is always nice.

DRKs seem to like figures such as their 1038084damage per hit (sense the tone). Good job with the logs Big, shows those big-mouth DRKs (not all, but some, *cough* most) that they will and always have had competiton for top dog in the damage pile. I am too going full-WAR as most of you who've helped me know, but I never reallised Aggresor was such a good skill. All melee lust over accuracy and we have a skill to boost it ^^ .

I don't understand why Zeige's numbers were so low in that pt.
magic bursts alone should have gotten him well over 200 dmg.
But according to your parse, he was only doing 250 most battles.
Did you have a filter on preventing some of his dmg from showing?
                            Or was he elvaan? :X
                            Crappy gear? :X

He should have been doing far more damage than that.

He was consistantly bursting for 350-600, but the program does not process magic bursts.
