  • Had a question about war weps race and subjobs...

Hey, and thanks for any input u have. Im starting a war, probably human but i was wondering about that too. I planned on using a scythe because i may go drk but probly not, is there any disadvantage to using a scythe over greataxe? havent seen that posted yet... i was also wondering about subjob, i want to tank for groups, not solo, i guess if paladin grouped i could bear to be a melee, but i rly wanna tank. I was wondering what the best subjobs were under 50??? again thanks for any input u may have.

Usually pre-30 you will be a tank so you don't have to worry about that.

The best sub for war pre-30 is mnk for your max HP and mnk's traits will help you out while tanking (boost, counter, dodge...).

About your Scythe question... really I don't know anything about Scythe so I can only give a bias answer and that is use G-Axe. Great Axe is the war true weapon as you can hold great hate with it.
    Pld: 45 War: 34 Mnk: 20 Thf: 18 Whm: 30 Blm: 15
    Bastok: Rank 5
    AF1: Completed

You will be a big disadvantage using a Scythe. Go with Great Axe or Axe (or both, even more if you have the time to skill up the weapons).

Subjob wise, Monk is the only viable sub from 1-24. At 24, Ninja becomes an option (for Utsusemi).

      Monk-
      More HP
      More VIT
Counter (Job Trait, gives chance of countering attack)
      Dodge (Job Ability, raises evasion)
Boost (Job Ability, good hate keeping ability)

      Ninja -
Utsusemi (Magic, allows you to dodge 3 hits every 30 seconds)
Dual Wield (Job Trait, allows you to swing axes faster)
Ninjitsu Debuffing series (Magic, good for hate keeping *if they aren't resisted*)

Monk is more of a deffensive tank and generally keeps better hate when boosting every 15 seconds, while Ninja is a mix between deffensive and dodge. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Its all about weapon grades. There is a couple of sites that have charts on which weapons are the best for each job.If your job has a A,A- or A+ grade in the weapon it means that they learn most of the Weapon Skills avaiable and they get the highest skill level. The skill level of your weapon effects the max attack rating and accuracy of the weapon your using.

WARs gets mostly B's,and C's with other weapons. While with Axe they get an A- and A+ with Great Axe.So if your skill level is capped with both while your leveling you'll get the most damage and hit the most using those weapon types.

And to further go with what Caj said, here is a website that tells you the grade of the weapons.

Galkas, stat wise, are by far the best race for WAR. Too bad they're ugly.

It should also be noted that, on the whole, Scythe weaponskills are total garbage up until Guillotine (level 60), where as Greataxe is the king of high damage WSes from 23 to 33, and competes with THF's fuidama Viper Bite until MNKs get Raging Fists at 41. Even then, it can still put the hurt on thanks to double attack.
