I think we can pull this off quite easy. With gluttony sword, good VIT and defense equips, as well as food tanking shouldnt be hard. Our AF keeps the hate on real well. What is the problem...?

I think it will be problematic with Greataxe (or any 2H weapon) since you cannot use good ACC equip, which usually have EVA and DEF penalties. And yeah, swords will start to suck later for Warrior.Beckx of Bastok - Rank 9

Agreed, anything -DEF should not be worn while defending, but -EVA doesn't hurt since most IT mobs will already be hitting you 70% of the time or greater.Bigokk

Real warriors dont use puny swords?
1. Warriors specialize in a multitude of weapons not jsut Axe and Great Axe (although they kick very much ass with them.) Many people forget that.
2. With ninja sub you can use Sword and Axe. One for defense, one for damage.
3. If your party needs it you can always switch out ur Gaxe.
4. Would u rather stay alive from extra +7 VIT or die from being a REAL warrior.

It's not easy tanking as a warrior when you have a ranger in you're pt that has Sidewinder, he will be tanking and not you. Remember to invite a Thief into a party it makes tanking easier for you. Tanking for warrior's change in the 40+ range you can't hold hate well compared to a Paladin that can Flash.Blm.75 - Whm.56 - Mnk.58 - Rdm.48 - Nin.37 - War.37 - Drk.37

i've been tanking as a War / Nin since 55, quite successfully.
i was invited to join a perma after a few hours partying with a group of five people who were already a perma and had lost their pld to r/l stuff - they were impressed with how well i tanked and the difference of my style to their galka pld
as of last night i am 59 and so far we have had no trouble at all getting chain4-5 on ITs
i think a dedicated War/Nin can be a very effective tank, but there are disclaimers:
-thief is pretty much necessary
-you absolutely will take more hits and more damage than a paladin, even if you do the double Utsutsemi initially and toss in a few more during battle
-certain mob types will pwn you, its just that simple (monk types and really high DEF types come to mind)
a war / nin can be an excellent tank til at least 60, after that i cant speak from personal experience so it would only be speculation. to be honest im actually rather concerned, because i know thigns will only continue to hit harder, and while my offensive abilities certainly will grow, defense is undeniably the weakest point of a war tank
anyway good luck

Okay okay, so EVA penalties don't hurt a lot. The point is that most equipment that increases your attack, hurts your defense (and the other way around).
Most monsters will have crazy evasion later on in the game, and TokeN wants to use a sword, a B type weapon for Warrior. Maybe I am wrong, but doesn't that mean you would need a lot of accuracy equipment? You cannot wear this if you are wearing lots of tanking only equip.Beckx of Bastok - Rank 9
