Hi, right now I am a Lv.5 Mithra and I'm lookin' for the right weapon. Since Mithras have high dex/agi, would a 2-handed weapon be preferrable?

Yea keep Axe and/or Great Axe skilled up, maybe a sword if you have some extra cash. The Axe and Great Axe are best for WARs, but the sword can be good for some Renkei/SkillChain later on so if you have the time/money you should keep em all at max skill.

Yay more Pande-rs
I wouldn't say that Mithra are the best ninjas, I would suggest you choose the race you find the most asthetic.
I like mithra, but being hit on gets annoying fast
, and my freind wouldn't let me be a Galka

w00t pandemonium.
Mithras hold Gswords like a baseball bat :p
Gonna agree with toki on this one about gaxe and 1h axe, best weapons for WAR. Also, you say you want to go NIN/WAR, then keep 1h sword skills handy. NIN can use a nice stat-buff sword dualed with a katana and you can switch either to your main hand for Kat or 1h sword WS.

Pandemonium > you.

And so I'm not completely off-topic, leveling 1h sword is a good idea like Kowboy said. 1h sword has better renkei-options then an 1h axe, so even though it doesn't do nearly as much damage it can be better overal for the party.JohNNYOriginally posted by Luminaire

WARs are versatile, you use something like sword, dagger, etc. Your damage potential is gone. I do not invite WAR/mages and I always check to see what weapon you have before I invite. Shield Break is good at every Lv.
Use Great axes.

After using a Great Axe and Dual Wielding axes, I personally perfer axes when dealing damage. It's not more damage in one hit, but I find it to be better damage overtime. You miss out on shield break and double attack isn't nearly as good, but I still go with axes.JohNNYOriginally posted by Luminaire

I am a Mithra War/Nin. While leveling I kept sword, axe, and polearm skilled up. Now at 30 I wish I had GAxe skilled. Keep as many weaps lvl'd as possible, you won't regret it. My goal is to keep Axe, Sword, Polearm, GAxe, Dagger, and yes even Club leveled if I can.
I planned on being a drg, then a rdm, then a pld, then a nin, now I'm going with War/Nin. The extra skills will help ya in the long run.

do you know what versatile means? It means that they can have variations and fill in different spots. So in other words they are able to use each weapon with at least a little skill, and its not always about damage output.Originally posted by Funguwari

Yeah, but, I was talking in a sense of being damage dealer/tank. Even though you're totally right about keeping everything Lv'ed.Originally posted by Tokitoki

I have: Axe, Great axe, Polearm, and Sword capped.
I was just saying, "use Great axes" is because, pre-30 WARs (especially ones who will switch to a adv.) don't normally keep all weapons capped like they should (yes, I know it's a stereo type and generalization... but, haven't met one yet who did). So, if he was to use one weapon, I would say Great axe, great hate holder, etc. and you can deal damage. So, that's why I said that.

Alright well its true that Great Axes have good WS, but the Axe/Shield combo isnt a bad choice for tanking, and can actually be better. You hit more often so you keep the hate towards you, plus the def boost(small i know) from the shield, AND parry/shield skills. While w/ a GAxe you get parry and a high damage, long delay.... hmmm... there seems to be a bit more positives in the axe/shield combo while tanking at least.
