    Utsusemi change, how does it affect you?

    With the most recent "patch" (aka NERF) it seems that Utsusemi is less effective when using /NIN.

    I haven't had first hand experience with Ni and Ichi at the same time, but I was thinking about it and there seems to be no way to keep shadows up now.

    Ichi: 2 shadows?
    Ni: 2 shadows?

    This hardly leaves enough time to recast and keep shadows up.

    Will War/Nin still be the uber HNM tank at 75?

    Your thoughts? (Please no "Yay you deserved to get nerfed!" comments)

    well while I do agree that /nin needed a change (because someone subbing /nin should never be a better blink tank than nin main) But at the same time, they need to give war something past 35 to distinguish someone using war main from a lvl 70 with war sub. Same with thf past 30 (which can be replaced in exp parties by someone with thf sub at 60)

    so my two cents about the patch?
    They did 1/2 of what needed to be done to balance the problem.

      Havent played since the patch, they reduced /nin's shadows from 3 to 2?

          Maybe Warrior should get DEF BONUS II at 50 and ATK BONUS II at 60?

          Adding these, WAR will never have the DEF that a PLD has or the ATK of a DRK, but it will help boost them to a desirable level of both instead of mediocre.

          Subtle Blow was such a minute bonus for using /NIN or /MNK, it really doesn't help very much at all.

            On my RNG, I still get 3 shadows from :Ichi. I think somebody is spreading false info.

              So now we effectivly have 4 shadows at the beginning of the fight. That kinda makes /nin tanks gimped pre 74? Other than dual wield we really dont gain much from /nin now?

              That rocks, had 1 night of messin around as 30 war/nin. Guess it was fun while it lasted.

                Basically no one can confirm or deny it yet...but since no one is denying it, it scares me into believing it.

                  Utsusemi: Ichi has not been changed. I tryed this over my lunch break and I have 3 shadows. I belive the recast time is the same also. I'm only war lvl 30/15 but i dont think they would change it for higher levels. No more worries hopefully.

                    75rdm/37nin. Enough confirmation for you?

                    [edit] Utsusemi 2 gives 4 shadows when main job is ninja. Also, I can't really say anything about whether recast timers are same/nerfe because RDMs fast cast ability also lessens recast timers for spells, and I have no other 74-75 job to test this with.

                    [edit2] After doing more careful reading, apparently my server hasn't received the dreaded update yet, so just ignore whatever is above :sweat:

                      Not only is he a PLD, he's also posting something he "heard" from another person. I love rumors. I also like the fact that he restates what samurai sub does, that's only be known for like ever now.


                      BTW!

                      My brother's mother's dog's bestest friend's father's son says that utsusemi san can be obtained by walking in shadows only for 3 straight game days!

                        Can someone on a server that's already been updated try this out and verify it?

                        Square, don't touch Warrior. There's just no reason to do so. The job is about balance and different subs bringing different types of utility. It's not like you hear a bunch of people complaining about WAR/NIN, although I guess NINs and PLDs at 74-75 might.

                              I don't think square reads these boards.

                              I do see the reasoning behind the change though,

                              think about gimped trick/sneak attack with /thf.
                              think about gimped soul eater with /drk.

                              I think it's Square's way of acknowledging the power of Utsusemi, and what they have done to the NIN class by forcing them into their current role.
