  • G.Axe Skill up!

I am a 30 WAR planning to take it further. However I leveled to 30 using polearm, I didn't know about Axes. Now I need to level up my G.Axe from scratch (0). Anyone know how I can quickly go about this? Where to go? What to fight? Are there skill up PTs? Any help please...anyone been in the same situation?

Not many people do skillup PTs at that level. The best way would be asking your LS for assistance. Or, you could try to skill it up when helping other people in or outside of your LS. Besides normal methods of skilling up, you could also try helping people get the kazham airship pass quest keys or reach rank 4 in delkfutt's tower. You usually do those in a small group anyway, and most people won't mind that you're trying to skillup and help out at the same time. Those are two methods I could think of for now. Of course, since you're at 0 right now, you might want to just farm in the lowbie regions for a bit. You could get to skill level 60ish fighting lizards and snippers in valkurm. That's what I did with my Greatsword as a level 25 warrior.

I would say, slowly fight things around town. Beat up on the mobs around town, then move to the next part, then the next part. Example would be...

Beat up Too Weaks around Windurst, then move to Giddeus or Tahronji, then try Buburimu. It should skill up enough that when you do get into a PT it wont matter much.

Right. Thanks guys, you've given my WAR new hope. Since I am a San D'orian I will buy whatever G.Axe I can afford then I will beat on rabbits<--look wierd lvl 30 on rabbits. The move to la Thiene ,etc. How long should I expect this to take?

Not long at all. When I start leveling a new weapon, takes me about an hour to get into the 30 range, maybe a little longer. Just don't hang around in the newb zone too long, get 10 levels then move to La Theine.

This topic has been covered here dozens of times.

Very simple. You're lvl 30, so you have defender. Kill everything that's high defence while using defender. You'll take low damage and low damage output. Making the battle last and your WS go up fast. Best place in Sand are the crabs at Knight's Well. Then to Fort against Grunts. Then to Dunes against Snippers. Then take a healer friend and farm either Beadeaux or Davoi. You'll pretty much come close to capping. Given how slow Gaxes are, it'll take some time. Probably about 2 days of full lvling your WS.

The key is to kill things that have naturally high defence. Like crabs, Quadavs, and Beetles. GL

If you haven't already you can also just start up DRK. Even if you don't plan to raise it to playable levels, you could skillup to a decenta mount just by leveling it to ~10 (DRKs also have G Axe @ A). That'll get you crystals as well, so cash money and skillups at the same time.

Well I was in the same problem as you when I decided to retire PLD and go back to WAR.My Great Axe and Axe skill were definately behind since I made the typical noob mistake of using sword and great sword. But thanks to my LS and a couple of other friends I was able to raise my Great Axe up to par by leveling it on tough - easy preys at Qufim.

Now 1 handed Axe is a different story.I was able to raise it easily at Qufim through soloing land worms and subbing NIN to have dual weilding.I was able to take Axe from lvl 20 and get it close to capping it for a lvl 30 WAR within a couple of hours of work.Good luck and enjoy taking WAR further.

Thanks guys. I seriously considered ditching my further WAR idea fir DRG but it seems skilling up my G.Axe shouldn't take too long at all. I'll start on Crabs at Knights Well then move to Ghelsba then Thickshells in La Thiene then Snippers in Valkrum. If I play for 7 straight hours how far should I be able to get my G.Axe? Also this would mean I don't want to use 1H axe, but WAR AF is 1H Axe, anyone here specialising in 2H but came across this dilemma with AF?

I had the exact same problem. For a few days my LS went on a weapon skill party. Everyone got their weapons up and was happy.

                      NMs raise skills greatly.

Go to Ghelsba and fight Barricader/Wallbreacher, Thousandarm, and Warchief. They'll help out a lot. You can also skill it up on the orcs near Thousandarm.

Yeah, WAR AF is a 1 hander. But which would you prefer to use? Plus...Great Axes are sexier!

Yeah, I'd prefer to use Great Axem is there an AF like G.Axe which i can use as a replacement for AF1 Axe, which only adds STR+2 and DEX+ 2 and there is a G.Axe which adds, at the same level, STR+2 and CHR+2 (helps with potency of vokes), SE's way of saying you can use this instead?
As for Ghelsba, can I really take on those NM's with a skill of 0 on G.Axe, i was thinking of raising it to 10 then going to fight the WarCheif for NM skill up however can a 30WAR in beetle gear and a G.Axe take him down, probably sub PLD for this just in case.

Uh, an SE rep was in an interview and stated that CHR greatly affects certain abilities. And since PLD has great CHR... hmm. =\
