  • MNK w/1-H Axe a DD?

Just curious, because debating between NIN and MNK sub (MNK in my opinion is much, much, much, much, much better for tanking until Lv74 at least... in my opinion...) and I was thinking of NIN for a damage dealer when you got Rampage, so, one 1-H axe and shield a DD? Or, should I Lv NIN when I get Rampage, or, just stick of Great Axes all the way?

Is Rampage chainable? I heard is wasn't used much in EXP'ing...

    Opinions please.

Keep your axe and gaxe leveled as WAR is my advice, you never know what the situation will call for. EXP PTs wouldnt ask a DRK to us 1h sword or a RNG to use dagger WS to chain, so dont worry about having every possible weapon leveled. Thats something you can do when you're farming, etc.

I prefer WAR/THF as a damage dealer (only if I have a designated tank in the PT). If I was asked to tank, I'd sub MNK because of the vast job abilities you can spam to piss off the mob.

First i have to say, What up Ik!

Ok back to topic. I think that even without the boost and dodge, you should be able to keep hate well as a war if you do enough damage and spam prov, not wait til the mob turns. /NIN will help with blink tanking (not as much as NIN), and dual wield is good for stat boosting weapons which i know well as a THF/NIN. You have a stronger weapon in main hand for WS damage, and a stat weapon in off-hand for benefits.

Now MNK will give you more vit therefore you take less damage, plus, yes, you do hold hate better than a /NIN. But if you think about it, if youa re good at blink tanking, which i dont know if you are or arent, you will take less damage anyway as a /NIN.

If you are thinking for a damage dealer id go /NIN since just because you have dual wield DOESNT MEAN you HAVE to use it. If you need Great Axe for a SC then you can use it, or if you need 1h axe you can dual it. Hell you can even keep sword, club, etc leveled in your off-hand if you really wanted to as a /NIN, therefore more versitility(sp?) as a WAR for WS and SC.

        I hope that helps you:sweat:

heh, glad you came around to the /MNK camp

As for the 1H Axe, I don't think you'll make much of a DD with it. Axe+Shield is more geared to tanking. Stick with the G Axe if you want to dish damage. For complete versatality, lvl both.

          Thanks Yyg!

you need axe for fusion to chain Light. you need it, most high level warrior sub ninja and use axe.
the war/nin in PT tried this, using great axe we can hardly get to chain 5 but she switch to 2 axes we got chain 5 easy. im not sure about the ratio there but i like 2 axes for warrior to chain Light, Fusion(Mistral Axe) -> Fragmentation (Spinning Slash)
other 3 job i can direct chain Light with are DRG and RNG, RNG are rare to find, anyway you get the idea Fusion WSs are great.

              Woah! calm down son.

If that's the question you wanted to know, you could have asked that in the first place. Your first post isn't exactly the CLEAREST thing in the world you know...

              Thanks Yyg!

"Sorry for the caps and the yelling... Sasarai really pissed me off there... I'm a WAR godamnit, and proud, why the hell would I want to put my job as NIN/WAR in the profile? Why the hell do these people assume that I don't Lv my sub? Maybe, NIN is my sub, and I took a break from Lv'ing my main to Lv my sub. . . . but, no, everyone friggen assumes that I just Lv my main and ignore my sub, I'm not a n00b... I'm just proud to be a WAR so I don't want to put MNK or NIN as my main when I'm Lv'ing them... Also, I don't log off every time I Lv nor do I update my profile often because it takes too long... I wanna post, I don't wanna update my profile. And someone couldn't be calling anyone lazy when they're too damned lazy to hit the damned shift-key or put a period at the end of their sentence... I can't stand hypocrites... I guess now, I need to put NIN/WAR in my profile because people for some reason do not Lv my sub. . . .

I can't freaking stess this shit enough...: JUST BECAUSE MY PROFILE SAYS WAR/NIN DOSEN'T MEAN IT'S MY SUB'S CURRENT LV, NOR DOES IT MEAN THAT I'M NOT CURRENTLY LV'ING IT... WHY THE HELL WOULD I PUT NIN/WAR? I AM A WAR... NOT A NIN... I CAN'T STAND PLAYING THAT JOB... but, no, someone who assumes that my profile says WAR/NIN 45/13 they think... "wow, he isn't Lv'ing his sub"... uhh, yeah, I am Lv'ing my god damned sub you jerk... and also... if I do get a PT invite from a friend... do you actually think I would use that 13 sub? No... I would switch to my fully (YES, FULLY LV'ED) Lv'ed THF or MNK sub and use that. What I say by WAR/NIN is, my main job is WAR and I'm proud, NIN is my sub I'm currently Lv'ing... or, thinking about using... but, not yet since it's under Lv'ed...

I don't know how to explain it... just because my profile says, WAR/NIN... dosen't mean I'm currently Lv'ing WAR, it means my main is WAR... do the RDMs I know who Lv MNK for fun put MNK as their main? No. . . . so, why should I put NIN as my main when I'm in the middle of Lv'ing it...

Guys, girls... I ALREADY have Lv'ed subs... I'm in the middle of Lv'ing NIN... I haven't PT'ed w/my WAR because I'm too busy getting NIN to 30... and I don't log off to update my profile, nor do I wait 10 mins for the "User CP" page to load... if it makes you happy, and you aren't convinced I will put MNK as my sub which is Lv25 now, and put in my profile, I have a 13 NIN and a 25 THF... and I'm currently Lv'ing NIN now."

Sorry guys, I just got mad... the sterotypes... the prejudice... the unfair judging... the assumptions... got me mad, I'm sorry, it wasn't everyone, just one. I had a bad day, and one post just made me flip. Sorry.

                I'm sorry, please forgive me.

Is MNK sub good for damage? I've been using /THF and been happy, gah, so many subs to Lv... it stings...

I, personally, think that THF would be betetr for damage than MNK. I dont have a high WARm but subbing MNK with WAR is usually for tanking and not for damage. THF would be nice for Sneak Attack to a WS if it's a physical WS. NIN is nice for dual wield so you can have a nice ATK, STR, ACC, anything+ weapon and a stronger one. I think it really depends of if you like the play style of one or the other. /NIN is cool with 2 axes, and some Ninjutsu. THF garuntees a crit at least once a minute, plus a little boost for WS.

I kinda like the look of wield dual of a we4apon but i think it is truly up to the player to decide what they like best, each SJ has its perks.

I'd much rather have focus, everyone raves about accuracy rings or dex rings, and everyone raves about life belt... focus is awesome.

I rarely find myself doing renkei, mostly because they request I do shield break, I guess /thf guarantees shield break hit.

But in all actuality, I do think sneak attack < focus. I could level my thf and find out, but I'm usually the tank so I probably won't sub thief for a long time, if ever.

I'm going to, and in the process of Lv'ing all subs, just curious to see if MNK w/a 1-H axe could deal damage, thanks.
