Armor used above lv 40-60

I was wondering what armor i should get after lv 40

im a 33War/nin right now and i was wondering what armor i should save money and farm money for. I'm planning on taking War/nin to lv 75 so any info would help.

There's two sets of level 40 armor to choose from. One is expensive and has a couple stat bonuses, and the other is plain. They both look okay.

From 40-50 you'd be equiping random pieces of Iron Musketeer's armor and then AF past 50.

Great axes and axes are pretty straight forward. If you go into the AH, click an item and hit sort you can sort them by level and find out what's next for you.

Utsusemi is a must.

@ lvl 45, I switched to Brigadine armor. More str, dex+.

As a war/nin you will find yourself in need of 2 sets of equipment. Its not required, but its nice to be able to do tanking and dmg @ the same time.

I bring stack of meat kabob and stack of fish kabob with me along with warrior belt and swords belt, drone earring and beetle earring. I stay with balance ring b/c I like having lots of Dex+ for my Elvaan Race ( T.T we have such of low dex) I use nomad mantle for the agi+ and evasion+, doens't helpo much but its a nice back piece.

But i do suggest getting the best def armor possible, b/c with only UT: Ichi, you will get hit no matter what if you are tanking.

Bring a set of axe, 1 sword, and 1 great axe. (I might purchase a great sword too just for skill chain purpose). But I do recommend using dual axe when tanking. Constantly atking the mob is a good way of keeping hate.

I find lvls 45-50 kind of annoying armor-wise.

Once you hit 45, you get Brigadine, which seems to clash with everything =P

This combo below looks decent, (but I switch to IM hemet when tanking...)

Head: Strong Cap
Hands: Oxygos
Body: Brig
Legs: RK Breeches
Feet: Cuisses


At Lvl48, you can either go for a full set of dino or scale, but the def bonus is pretty minimal, and not even really needed.

Lvl49 is cool cuz you get full set Mithril (black armor!) and a new G.Axe.

But thennn at 50 you get IM Body/Legs, RK Hands/Feet - and you're wearing mismatched armor again =(

I prefer when armor matches, and lasts for more than 1-3 lvls.

How long do you see warriors wearing their AF? Not including AF1 >_<

War can wear their AF piece til about mid 60's. Or even b4 if they have the gils to get the haubergon (sp*) If a war is not tanking, they can most likely sub their AF piece with other armor to help them increast str and atk.

WAR AF is worn by most people until they're able to get the whole Hauberk and Thick series.

At that Lv, can you get 2 million quick farming?

looks-wise, I'm in Mythril+RK now and I wish I had kept that stuff until 55 with full RK set.

At 59/60, I'm going to wear AF and Byrnie for body piece.

I'm silly in that, I swap as long as "the look" is still good. My Mithra end up being sexay, showing some flesh here and there =P

The armor which shows most of your flesh post RSE is your AF. >.>

while many WAR's stop wearing their AF pieces at 69, like Funguwari said when they get Hauberk and Thick series of gears, some still prefer AF's over Thick series. (i'll talk about the body part later.) WAR's AF, especially Legs and Foot, r really good that u might just wanna keep using them up to 75. Double Attack+ on Foot is nice, and u get more accuracy bonus w/ Legs than u do w/ Thick. Hand piece is also good thanks to its STR+4 bonus, while u don't get any accuracy bonus. also, some keeps the mask coz they don't like helmets (Celata ) lol. at the same time, some prefers the matching gears like laicram does, and go w/ full Thick gears and Hauberk. both r just fine and it's really up to ur taste.

however, as to the body piece, it's a totally different story. looking at the stat, WAR's body piece is made as a tanking gear. no offensive bonus, just plain deffensive w/ enmity bonus. now, if u get into a exp party as a dmg dealer, RK armor of lvl 55 already makes a better equipment. not to mention the enmity bonus on AF body piece may make it harder for a tank to control the mobs' target, especially for NIN tanks. Haubergeon makes a better melee gear than RK, but that's only if ur budget permits. nevertheless, the idea is same up to 75. u tank, then AF. u deal dmg, then RK/Haubergeon/Hauberk.

of course, there r many WAR's who tank w/ Hauberk and Thick gears, and there's nothing wrong w/ that, either. many ppl, at the same time, find that enmity bonus on AF pieces makes it easier for them to tank, so it's really ur personal choice. if i were to tank as a WAR, i'd wear AF pieces though.


btw, i'm taking AF2 (Relic) and cursed gears out of the equation, coz they r not what u can get just because u got money.

IM helmet (best helmet ever, the look outweighs the stats of the valk mask)
RS Body
RS Pants
IM gloves
IM feet

I am considering getting a Brig at 45, or just keeping this until full IM.

At 60? Heh... AF and haubergeon? >.> yeah right...
