This will sound weird coming from a lvl 56, but I need help!

Ok, to start off. This was not my character. I in no way leveled this war up to 56, or any of its subjobs, nor do I know the person I aquired this character from personaly. But we had a fair trade(I traded him linage 2 stuff, and he gave me this character).

Anyway background on myself. The highest i have played a character to is 25 and she was a mithra thf. So, needless to say, i'm a little clueless on the grouping stratagies of mid level 50's. The character I got is a lvl 56 taru war. other jobs are 17 nin, 27 sam, and 13 mnk. The skills on the taru are max Gaxe, and 165 polearm. The character has AF 4, and the best Gaxe and polearm at this point.

This is what I need from the more veteran players. I need you to tell me what my job in the party is as a main tank, or sub tank. Any info will help, and I will hope that this discussion can stay on info for me, and not some rants on how oh my god a nub is playing a 56 char, everyone run for their life crap. I'm looking for info while I farm money, and hope that you guys can give me some nice tips.

On one last side note, i'm thinking of getting the ranger quest and leveling one up once i get the cash for it, but until then I would like to play in new high level areas that I've never seen before, but don't want to put fellow players into danger because I don't know whats up.

first, I advise you lvl your MNK to 30...it's a superior WAR sub till 60, also get your SAM to 37. You'll need your 1handed axe A LOT at lvl 60, so once there do yourself a favor and max it before you exp again...

that's the best advice I can offer...since I'm not a high lvl WAR myself

Yeah like Hidson said,keep Axe up & shield obviously and Great axe. Also you can LV Ninja to 37 and sub it and have Utsemi.
Some places I reccomend farming at your level are Delkfutts Tower (pots,dolls,gigas,nm's,elementals). Also Fei-Yin,Beaducine (Golems,Pots,Floating Eyes,dolls etc.)

I don't think you will be deligated the tank job as a taru war/sam

your mnk sub is too low to allow for tanking even if you were a different race.

At lv 50+, warriors are mostly damage dealers. With occassional tank duties if you don't have any pld or nin around.

Taru warriors espically will not be tanking much. But if you are ever told to tank. go with war/mnk. But make sure your mnk sub job is leveled so you will survive.

Lots of things at lv 50+ can one shot a taru tank. You'll need all the HP that you can get. Sickle slash from a spider is around 300-500 damage. Not to mention that anticans if you fight them (look like ants) can cast ancient magic such as quake that can do like 600 damage.

Dying 50+ is a big chunk of exp >_< espically when tnl is like 20k later on.

1st get ur ninja sub to lvl 37. Get you 1 hand axe skill max. 2nd Throw away your Sam, mnk sub, throw away your polearm. Only weapon you need are axe and great axe. At lvl 60 you will be ask to do Guillotine > Raging Rush, and after you do Raging rush, the monster will 100% attack you. At lvl 66 you will be ask to do Mistral axe > Spining Slash <sneak>+<trick> and the drk will either Spining Slash Trick Behind you or Spining Slash Trick behind the pld. Either after you raging rush or drk Spining Slash behind you or Spining Slash behind pld u are going to take heavy dmg, No ninja sub = good fun for you and good fun for your healer . At lvl 74 any race with ninja sub can be a God Tank cause 2 blink ability.

Yah i forgot to mention that the axe skill is near max as well. But anyway, thank you everyone for the advice, it is very helpful. I think i'm going to stick to farming and switch into an adv job that is more suited for a taru, but I will definitly group a little bit and see what these big hitters can do ^^

you could go PLD or DRK...Tarus can be good at those jobs
