Is that right? I posted it in the WAR section cause I'm debating o some rings for my WAR. It's either 2 rings with VIT +1, Earth +3, or 2 rings with DEF: 1.

It is true that addint two points of VIT will give you one point of defense. However, VIT also has an additional effect on damage reduction besides just increasing your defense. So it can safely be said that 2 VIT > 1 defense.
I know for high level Paladins it is sometimes said that VIT is ultimately more important than defense in the long term. For Warriors I am not so certain, as Warrior's defense is not as high as Paladin's, especially in the high level ranges, so someone with more long-term experience with the Warrior job would be able to give you more perspective on it than I could.Stormwalker

That is exactly right. 2 Vit > 1 defense. Just like DEX and every other stat, there are hidden exponents that make it unique and better than Defense, Attack, etc. I personally like VIT since you get enough from protect, and armor as a warrior.

Also, the damage reduction from Vit boosting is linear, whereas the damage reduction from deff is not.
In other words, if your def is very high relative to your enemy's attack, then adding a small amount of def will bring little benefit, but if you def is lot as hig has your attacker's attack, then adding a small amount of def will make a larger difference. Adding Vit will always make a difference in how much damage you take, reguardless of how high it is relative to the mob's strength, at least until the mob's doing 0 damage to you, not like that's goign to happen in an exp party though.

This was the general breakdown for vit vs defence that I got:
vit 72, defence 343, Lowest damage: 43, highest: 73, total damage received : 6325
vit 83, def 323, low: 45, high: 76, total: 6246
vit 74, def 430, low: 28, high: 68, total: 4880
vit 85, def 411, low: 29, high: 69, total: 4791
so in essence, yes, vit does help and seems like 10 points of vit is better than 20 points of armor is what the numbers crunch down to. But 10 points of vit is far far below 100 points of armor.
Not sure of exact relationships but maybe someone can play with the numbers and come up with something I missed.75/bst, 60/smn, 51/rdm, 46/whm, 40/blm, 37/nin, 37/thf, 37/war, 32/sam, 25/brd, 10/pld, 7/mnk
