It is sorta like you are setting him up for a flame to flame you on you telling him to keep it flame free..

Anyways I can't get what I like because I like both of them equally. I was just wondering which one would suit the role of a warrior past 30. I think of warrior and a support melee character. But there are a lack of paladins and tnaks and that is where monk might come in...

Just do mnk subjob to 50, it will take you there with no trouble from anyone.

Counter attack, HP bonus, dodge, and boost help you tank.

I'm Tarutaru and I tanked pretty much from day one, now I'm 50 and I'm raising NIN sub.

Valkurm is not the hell you claim it to be, once you get through there 7 times it's pretty easy to know how to get good exp. 12 to 15, 15 to 17, 17 to 19 in 3 consecutive days as my Ninja in the past 3 days man, I have samurai leveled to 30 and thief will be leveled up also.

The argument for Samurai is, with Great Axe you can Shield/Armor/Weapon/Full Break at te start of the fight, then Meditate and join the Renkei.

Kibagami, if your profile information is correct ... you will want a MNK subjob for Boost. It's like having a second provoke. Yesterday I was leveling my THF in Qufim and I was getting annoyed by the Warrior who wasn't keeping hate. Turned out he subbed THF, which is fine, but IMO not good if you are tanking. And tanking you will do, many times.

          I guess youre right Token...

Anyways, on the Valkurm xp. You should do Valkurm from 12-15 then move on to Korroloka, with a solid party you can get to 20 in one day there.

About my THF sub. The other day i was lvling in quifim and we had 4 WAR on the party (darn hard getting ppl to join >.<). Well anyways, one of them was Elvann and we choose him as Tank because of his HP, turns out that in the first fight I stol hate from him just by using STEAL , and he had 2 vokes on the mob. Then i got another party with Pally in it, 20 min later the pally stoped tanking the mobs cause i just kept stealing it from him. Im not saying im ubber at hate control, it just goes to show that THF can also help and one thing i like about having THF SJ is that it maxed my EVA while pulling add to that the Eva bonus and my cotton band (+3 EVA) and i can avoid quite some hits.
At 30 Sneak helps hate control, if a mob ever turns around just pull out that SA+WS, then voke and they stick to you like glue.

You can still deal damage as a monk subed and has real nice stats like everyone says :p. But for THF I personaly see it working on 60+ for hate control 60 and below it's pretty much the sneak attack and flee things that i'll use thief for =P oh yeah and of crouse farming.

My Sturmwind hit for 550+ damage, it did more than the THF's Viper Bite. I was using Mith-Cheifkabobs, Berserk, Warcry, and Sneak Attack, and then, probally Double Attack kicked in. (If it kicks in during WS, it makes it hurt more.) And I seemed to be hitting Sturmwind around the 450-550+ range. (Sneak'ed of course...) Also, regular criticals, and Sneak'ed (no WS) hit for about 180.

Idealy, you'd wanna Lv'up a bunch of subs. NIN, SAM, THF, and MNK. NIN for great tanking, SAM for a 60+ powerhouse, THF for Sneak Attack damage and the extra DEX, etc. helps too for damage. And MNK for a tank that's cheaper, but, even though worse than NIN, you hold hate better than NIN, and you do more damage (60+ suppossedly this sub turns sour...)

I would like to just Lv two, possibly three jobs for subbing. MNK (for tanking), SAM (for powerhouse WS), and THF (Sneak and Trick, also, good for farming). NIN is too expenisive for me... SAM you can't sub unless you're 60+ so, I'll hold that off for a while. THF is my current sub, I love it... I could do better sub-wise for tanking, but, I've served on numerous occasions as a main tank with this sub, and I've been quite pleased, not to mention, if aggro turns on one of the li'l guys in the back, I can just make him tank it for 2 seconds and Sneak that hate (WS, or regular) back onto me. Also, if you didn't know, the higher damage the ending WS is (normally why THF and their Viper Bite end a chain) the more the skillchain will be, and the more the magic burst will be, etc.

If I end chain with one of my moves Sneak'ed, I'll create a 150+ chain, if I have Berserk, Warcry and food with it, then forget about it, that chain will dominate.

Just bring two types of food, when I serve as tank, I still keep THF subbed but, I eat Fish Mithkabobs instead of Meat ones and I slap on Defender when I build up hate.

Idealy, WAR is versatile, so, you must be versatile, but, I'm happy with my temporary, tanking and damage dealing /THF.

Funguwari, I think your logic for a thief sub is flawed, you're definitely posting the highest number you critical for, but if you are tanking, you're rarely gonna get a chance to outdamage the thief's viper bite unless you're in a set party where you and the thief have agro established to the point where you can both get your Sturmwind and Viper bites off (which doesn't make sense as they don't chain together to make distortion, which is used often)

I would compare it to overhyping the thiefs sneak attack, it's definitely not something you're gonna get the opportunity to do if you are tanking the entire time. Boost and counter attack are going to be more useful in that situation than a thief sub will in my opinion.

I still think monk sub is the best, it allows you to counter with a high damaging great axe while you're tanking, but if you're not tanking I will concede that thief may do more damage, but I don't know how it would compare to focus which boosts your accuracy.
                      My thief is only 15.

I agree with Sasarai, I started over (playing in midgard with my old friends). So I am leveling thief just for the money when I get my sub job n other stuff I'm going WAR/MNK just gives better uses of tanking, It can even do moderate damage.

                          WAR/THF works!

In Ragonark, since there are enough PLD around ( in higher level which is above 30 ), Higher level warrors usually act as a role of damage dealer. So WAR/THF with SA/WS does work most of them time. Beside even if the war is tanking and unforturnally he lose aggo ,war/thf can always use SA for great amount of damage to gain back aggo for sure. I am sure SA/WS have more aggo than Provoke. Am i right?

I'm planning on going WAR/THF myself tired of tanking I want to deal damage with SA+Sturmwind. Warriors can be Damage dealers! ;P I've seen plenty of WAR/THF at 75 at Bismarck.

/nod. I decided when I hit 40 I will switch to /thief. Today the monster didnt even notice I was there sicne it was too focused on the paladins. By the way at level 50, what is the increase % of Dual wield?

                                LVL 10 = (1st weapon delay + 2nd weapon delay) * 0.90
                                LVL 25 = (1st weapon delay + 2nd weapon delay) * 0.85
                                LVL 45 = (1st weapon delay + 2nd weapon delay) * 0.75
                                LVL 65 = (1st weapon delay + 2nd weapon delay) * 0.70
                                * Additional -0.05 with AF

According to a post in the NIN forum.
