I set a goal for myself to get my warrior to level 40 this week. Yesterday I was in E. Altepa and got my warrior from 30-34 in one day. The day earlier I had gotten my monk sub to 20 so I wouldnt have to bother with that. During Altepa parties I would tank and In my last two parties I was a melee. The tanking was..wierd? At the beggining of every battle I activated Berserk (cancelled ASAP) Dodge, Defender, Boost, Provoke. This practically glued the monster to me and then I went through provoke nad boost when their timer was refreshed. But all my attention was focused on watching when my macros were ready. Whereas it seems a PLD does it with as much agro as me and is more aware than I am. So at 34 in CN I begin to wonder if I really want to keep tanking like this and /sea all some high level wars. I talk to them about subjobs and how much they tank (on midgard atleast) and they say rarely. They tell me I should start subbing thief because warrior is not that great at tanking and damage is my main priority. I dont know if this is a world specific problem but I had two parties with pld today. I did average damage but If i had subbed thief it would have been alot better. I dont have time to level more than one sub so which should I level. If i were to stick with monk I would liek to know if this is how I will be tanking for the rest of my warrior career. Mashing every ability I have? Because tanking is really becoming really harder than I thought it would be jsut to hold hate.

The perfect warrior would have MNK, THF, SAM and NIN subs. That's a lot of time to invest. I will leave my Monk at 30, get Thief to 37 and hopefully, Ninja too.
As for damage: Berserk + Agressor + Food + Great Axe = nuts.
I have the luxury of always leveling with my Paladin friend, so I can basically let my Monk rest and focus on Thief at the moment. So if you usually play with whoever is on, you might be asked to tank every now and then. I've read this stops around 60 ... I'd try to hit 30 Monk if I were you.Beckx of Bastok - Rank 9

As a WAR/MNK tank, until AF, the skills you have are the best forms of controlling aggro. AF gives you enmity+ so it'll make your skills more potent (piss em off more).
My advice is to just provoke, and do it every 30 seconds, and mash boost whenever you can. Make it a habit of using those 2 skills every chance its free. Save Warcry and other skills if the mob ever leaves your view. In Qufim, boost + provoke every 30 and 15 sec is what got me killed. No one could provoke it off of me (other vokers probably didnt do enough damage to get high enough on the mob's hate list, and we had no BLM to offset the damage/aggro).

TokeN, If you're tanking it is just waiting for those timers like Provoke, Defender, Warcry, etc etc. That is how you manage to keep hate steady and the warrior just to happens to have awesome +hate AF gear.
As far as subs for warrior, from an end game point of view (lvl 75):
- War/Nin: best war tank (@74+)
- War/Sam: best damage war (@60+)
- War/Mnk: is a good tank but is nothing compared to Nin once you hit 74/37.
- War/Thf: IMO a bad sub because you don't get the attack bonus from trick attack.
Currently I'm 69/34 War/Sam and I generally outdamage Drks. Granted I have above average equipment (full lvl68/69 Thick Set) and my entire War build is focued on Accuracy and Attack.

I'm going the path of war/nin all the way.. and like you i dont have time to lvl up multiple subs.. i only lvl'ed thf to 25 for farming purposes and flee.
With any sub war can be dmg dealer or tank. With /nin I've had no problem dealing dmg.
So I'd suggest u take mnk to 29 and ignore thf. You will still fill role in PT as dmg dealer or tank.. thats the beauty of warrior.
At lvl 60 you'll have 2 choices... start on a sam sub or a nin sub.
I'd suggest sam because its way less painful and expensive compared to nin. lvl this to ~37 then u can spam WS to your hearts desire.

after 65 /thf is for level3 renkei dmg boost if you were to end the chain and not mess up the aggro. you'll be surpised how much renkei dmg /thf can boost when ending on 3rd chain and also helping on holding aggro.
/sam is pretty much to help your PT with shield break after lv60.
/nin is amazing, a lv75 PAL get pwned by HNM but Nin/War or War/Nin 2 lv65 blink tanks working together can tank way better than lv75 PAL with uber equips. (thf or 2nd blink tanker required in PT)
as for /mnk they are somewhat same department as /nin, they are best dmg sub when tanking but holding aggro after lv50 will be a problem.(thf or /thf required in PT for tank job)
/whm is the best sj that can hold aggro if you have the mp and want to be a ghetto Pal.
warrior is a tough job, in the end /thf /mnk /sam /nin are the job high end l33t warrior should have and i must say i seen some warrior equiped with dmg items their dmg can beat drk easy depents on sub job and items.Bastok Rank 10

Well there is this romour that NIN's Blink is getting the Nerf bat.
So i would wait to this next patch to see if its still worth it.
As for youre sub Token, get what you like. Both MNK and THF are good. Most WAR i see with MNK sub, i chose THF because i already had it lvld and to tell ya the trhuth ive not have hate management issues.
Ednoon, you got me intrigued on THF sub after 60. Does it do the same wonders on WAR as it does on DRK?
Most WAR i have seen sub NIN at 60+, heck they even do it since 20. Made me doubt the usefulness of /SAM.
Oh and Ednoon, lets keep this one flame free.
