which one is good to do?

  • #2
personally i like war/nin and thf/nin better than either. if you're talking about before lvl 30, it depends what you're planning on doing afterwards. go war/thf if you're going to use a war sub for an advanced job. go thf/war if you're planning on using thf as a sub for an advanced job.

if you're just talking about playing war/thf or thf/war as your main, it just depends what you want to do. i'm sure there are other posts explaining what each does. just look at them as pick which you find more interesting.

I've really loved my WAR/THF combo, it's good if you're not the main tank in the PT, but, even if you are... some Mith-cheikabobs, and VIT+ and high DEF equipment should be fine, especially if you have a BRD in the PT, to give mages Refresh and give you Knight's Minnie.

Sneak'ed Sturmwinds are excellent damage and excellent for keeping hate.

funguwari, you do realize that /thf has a gimped SA right?

anyways, FFWar uh what do you want to do? The jobs are very different. war/thf is a war; thf/war is a thf.

        Thanks Yyg!

this is what i want to do. i Want to go Elvaan or hume(didnt make up my mind yet) then i want to start as WAR get lvl 18 sub thief then i want to lvl THF to lvl 15 then continue WAR to lvl 30. When i get 30 WAR i will make THF main and then use WAR as sub get THF to lvl 30 also. Then i want to be a DRK and sub WAR when i get lvl 60 DRK i will then alternate subs WAR and THF for my DRK is this good plan?:spin:

Yes, I know Sneak Attack is nerfed when it's subbed.

It gives you a regular critical instead of a (I think it's critical time two, not sure though...) but, that dosen't mean there is no point to THF subbed. Sturmwinds regularly do 60 damage, when I put on Sneak it goes to 200+.

Now, I think 200+ damage isn't useless, because, if you're chaining, the chain becomes more powerful if you're tanking you get hate, if not, it shouldn't matter, I'm a WAR I have good DEF and VIT, even then, a 'Voke can take it off. When I Sneak my "Breaks" it seems as if they last longer, and my "Break" can do 150+.

Is it as good as /NIN? I don't know, they both have their up's and down's... but, this sub, is far, far from gimped.

funguwari, don't get me wrong, I never said the sub was gimped, just the SA.

some ppl like /thf. Personally, I think it's use is situational, /mnk is a better general sub.

as for /nin, I don't think you can compare. They are for 2 different purposes.

                  Thanks Yyg!

I'll be doing pretty much the same plan, except I don't know if I'm going to go DRK...because there are SOOOOO many of them.

The main reason Thf/War is used is to level up the THF job once u reach 18. But also, your plan sounds awesome because you've thought way ahead. DRK/THF at higher levels is suppose to rock. But as Kazthgun said, I would also recommend bringing both your subs up to 30.
Ohh, how I look forward to a steady job in which i can support my Final Fantasy XI addiction once more...

I'm not sure if I'm going to bother Lv'ing MNK or NIN... they're rumored to get this "Subtle Blow" trait... which suppossedly nerfs tanking... if I Lv the two, then, find out it's useless because of the trait... then, I just wasted my time.
