  • WAR great sword?

i,ve been leveling my 1H sword and axe and my 2H sword and axe.i recently stopped training my 1H sword because it doesnt do much damage.i still intend to train my axes.here,s my question...what should i do with the great sword?
    it,s such a cool weapon and it,s a B+ weapon,doesnt matter much from a 1H axe with a A- rating right? should i keep it?

If you can afford to keep an at-level greatsword around and capped, I see no reason to not keep leveling it. It can only increase your groupability.

The +/- after the rating will only make a difference post 60, also the diff between a A and B rated weap is maybe 4-5 pts at lvl 30 so you won't see much diff with axe/great sword.

Great sword is probably good till lvl 23 where great axe get sturmwind ws, otherwise beside the "cool" factor there isn't much reasons to use a great sword over a great axe or a polearm.

You can keep the great sword around if you need it to open a distorsion sc, otherwise i don't see much reason to keep it.

i would suggest keeping all relevant weapons as uptodate as possible, sword, gsd, gax, 1hax, polearm being the big one. greataxe gives you the break weaponskills, which are great for solo chaining, (ie being outside of established skillchain) all the rest offer you variety and the ablity to link some ws's in your group that might have a hard/sub optimal time creating a viable skillchain

I agree with the above poster except that you don't need polearm, polearm is lousy for skillchains. By level 10, anything you can do with polearm you can do with either greatsword or greataxe, both of which have much better normal damage. The only exception is pentathrust, which is hardly ever used in skillchains and is pretty mediocre if you aren't a dragoon with A+ skill and an accuracy up trait. If you really want to keep a weapon that can do Compression, keep a scythe (which is stronger and gets it earlier anyway). But I don't think that's necessary either.

1H sword has low damage, but may be your party's only source of Liquefaction WS to make a Fusion SC, so you might want to keep it.

Greatsword is usually not as useful as greataxe, but it can help set up Distortion and Fragmentation skillchains with Power Slash and Frostbite/Freezebite, so keep it around if you can afford it.

Obviously you want to keep the 1H axe for parties that need you to tank and still do good damage. It has good skillchain versatility too.
