Should I just tank?

Hey, hopefully I will be getting FF XI on the 23rd when it is released for PS2. I was planning on perhaps just going warrior all the way and tanking as a profession (as it is, in my opinion the most noble). Is this a good idea, and if so how should I go about doing this. What race, and sub job should I choose? Thanks.

War/Wnk untill 30 then Pld/War should be nice if you want to tank.
A lot of the new players will roll drk/drg so you'll avoid waiting too much for groups later on.

WAR is great for tanking. But it is great at dealing damage two. Warrior can switch from any one of these roles by subjob and equipment. Paladin is a better tank but they are so sissy . Galka and elvaan are the best races for warrior.

Since your a galka or planning to be one, you mostly be a tank because of your VIT you will still rock :T

I just got my War/mnk to 31, and i love it... its a good tank, and with mnk as ur sub you can have more hp than others in a pt, or so i have found. as a tank sword/shield is better for the defence, but a grt. axe is better for dmg.

you could take mnk to 18, get subjob...
do war/mnk untill 30, do pld quest...
then go pld/war till 60 before you would have to lvl your war again...
