  • Quick Tips for the War/Mnks out there

Ok So I was leveling up my Character in dunes when I found something out... Boost Stacks with each other.... So I made a quick macro that casted boost 3 times:

    /em is getting 3x Boost....
    /ja "Boost" Avenger
    /wait 16
    /ja "Boost" Avenger
    /wait 16
    /ja "Boost" Avenger

(Boost has a 15 second delay, but you need an extra second otherwise you will get errors and replace avenger with your Character's name )

Anyhow I had a base atack of about 78 And I did this macro between fights and then I was about 100+ Attack... (Sure it only lasts for one hit but its still fun to have) This also works really well inconjuction with berzerk which sent me up to the 120s! Thats about a +50 Attack rating increase! Very useful when using a 2h Sword or other weapon... (Boost almost seems to cast inbetween each hit)

    Have fun out there

Quick Note: If you use provoke, the Boost macro will cancel out so make sure to hit again once you do a successful provoke...

Dark Knight~ I'm taking a break from FFXI for now...

I don't usually boost so much out of consideration for /say spamming especially if in a crowded area (like Qufim). However, if there is a long down time and seriously bored out of my mind, I boost it to max + Berserk and go for the first strike. I miss a lot (like about 40%) but I do connect a lot too ... and with deadly results I once had a critical on an IT Giant for 125 - boy, did he hate my guts. :D

        Better Macro?

Since you can only have 1 wait going at a time, there is not a way to use 2 different macros for Provoke and for Boost the earlier one will get canceled.

So what about a way to combine Provoke and Boost into 1 Macro?

        Provoke
        wait 15
        Boost
        wait 15
        /echo Provoke Ready
        wait 1
        Boost

So its going to be like a second before you press the macro after the message is displayed, so I think it would work?

then out of combat you use a different macro that just Boosts like the one in the first post.

          ^ Sorry last post confussing

Let me try to restate what the macro is doing

Its trying to combine these 2 macros:

          /ja Provoke
          /wait 30
          /echo Provoke Ready

          PLUS

          /ja Boost
          /wait 15
          /echo Boost Ready

I've found the actual damage increase from boost to be rather insignificant given the amount of work/spam put into it. I usually save boost for another important use; a small amount of extra taunt. Activating boost has a small amount of hate associated with it if you are standing right by the mob. So if the mob turns on someone else and I still have 5 secs until provoke refresh, a quick boost will usually spin the mob back around to face me until i can provoke again.

As far as macros go, have found this one useful.

              /target <stnpc>
              /ja "Provoke" "<lastst>"
              /wait 20
              /echo Provoke ready in 10
              /wait 10
              /echo Provoke ready

Basically once you activate this macro, the blue "switch target" arrow appears over your mob and the macro pauses. Hit tab to select any npc within your view, then hit enter. Provoke fires and the macro continues. Useful for peeling adds off of group members without ever breaking combat with your original target. Echo of course can be replaced with group messages if you prefer, but I try to spare my groupmates any spam that I can.

Macro that has Provoke + Boost????

From what I have read its best to provoke every 30 seconds and boost every 15.

Provoking every 30 is better then Provoking when you loss hate.

Boost does have benifits and should be used, no reason why not.

So I still want a macro that does both if anyone can help or sees any problems with my above macros I posted.

                Thank you!

                  Blondybadass

Such a thing is not possible within the scripting capabilities of FFXI, as it would require one macro to run two types of "loops"
"We grab swords to protect small wounds that had been buried deep in old memories."

                    /em is getting 3x Boost....
                    /ja "Boost" Avenger
                    /wait 16
                    /ja "Boost" Avenger
                    /wair 16
                    /ja "Boost" Avenger
How about using <me> instead of your character's name?

Nice tip. I'll def. check that one out after I get my MNK subjob lvl'd up.
