Very weird question

Ok, ultimatly I want to be a SAM/THF and have WAR lv'd so I could switch to a SAM/WAR. Now should I:

a. Start as a Thief and then at 18 start to lv my Warrior?

b. Start as a Warrior (since I hear they lv faster) and then switch to a Thief at an 18?

1. What do you get (weapons, items, armor) when you start the game as a Warrior?

2. What do you get (weapons, items, armor) when you start the game as a Thief?

3. If your a Warrior do you choose your first weapon? Could I start with a spear to lv it for my SAM?

Nooooooo, under no means should you start out leveling THF first. THF is easily one of the most frustrating jobs to level out there, especially with no support job. Until LVL15(when they receive the Backstab ability), THFs are worthless. Even with a support job, it still took me quite a long time to level up THF.

WAR Starting item: Onion Sword
THF Starting item: Onion Dagger

Another bit of advice for THF: Use the grapple/knuckle weapon or a 1H sword until LVL33, as the Weapon skills you can use with Dagger before then are not that great either.

As for using a Spear with your WAR, you can, but you have to purchase it, since you always start out with a 1H sword.

IMO you should start off as a WAR because like you said it's easier to level it up. Level it to 18, then try to do the subjob quest. If the quest becomes too hard, then stop, and level your THF to atleast 15. Once you're 15, you can head out with a party and do the quest, and the item drops will be much faster since you'll have treasure hunter. Once you have the items you can head back and continue to level as a WAR/THF or THF/WAR whatever you choose.

All jobs start with the same basic stuff, you'd need someone with actual field experience for the specifics on what you're wearing... I can only imagine they suck. Don't worry much about skilling up your weapons, you won't be able to afford spears for a while.
