I had this kind of answered before in another topic but i just want to post a new one because it is rather a different question. Right now I am a level 14 Elvaan Warrior and I wanted to get started on a subjob. I obviously only have the 6 starting jobs available to me. I realize that being an elvaan and a warrior would make becoming a mage a very bad idea so that leaves thief and monk and maybe even red mage. What should I be? Which would be more helpful? I just want the best subjob that will make the warrior better and more useful in a battle. i want to see everyone elses opinions before i make a decision. Thanks in advance.

This partially depends on what you eventually hope to become. If you want to get an advanced job, and go with that, using warrior as a sub-job, then that would need to be taken into account when answering. If you want to go warrior/?? for the rest of the game, I'd go with monk. But to answer better , I'd need a bit more info on what you want to do.

Well in the long run I am hoping to be either a Dragoon or a Dark Knight. Probably a Dark Knight. I wanna try all of the advanced jobs and see what I like but I right now I want a Dark Knight. High attack and black magic. Best offense you can get. But a dragon pet is very cool too. I hope that's enough info.

I assume since you are using warrior as your main job, you desire it to be your subjob when you pick your DarkKnight. My path is somewhat similar, I am leveling my warrior so I can use it as a sub to Paladin.
I had debated which to take as a subjob while leveling the warrior to 30, monk or theif. After some deliberation, I have chosen theif. My reason for this is after all is said and done, I will evntually be a Paladin/Warrior.....if I went with monk as a sub while I was leveling my warrior, I would never touch monk afterwards. Subbing theif I can use it while I go to 30 with my warrior and then I can also use it when I am solo'n for cash/items with my paladin.
In my eyes, the theif job would benefit me more throughout the game, and since my playtime is limited (job/social life) I don't see myself leveling up many classes I won't use throughout the game.Name: Susano

thanks a lot. That has pretty much made my mind. You make a very valid point. A thief in the long run would be MUCH more useful in the end. Thief as a subjob to warrior would make more of a balanced combo than a monk would. And gil searching is solved. Thanks again.
