Is THF useless?

Hi iv went THF on my other character and iv herd there usless and they never get parys is this true?

I personaly think THF is good it has got me ok gill when im alone in a new server

I'm leveling THF as of now. THFs require more party cooperation when dealing with moves like Trick Attack and Sneak Attack.

Other than that, it is a fun job and a nice Damage Dealer.

If you really want to know if thief is good then why don't you read the forums. If you read up on it then you would see that they have many good features about them. Making a poll on it really wasn't necessary.

meh, i'd like the idea of the poll though....just to see the general opinion of ppl who think about thief in their own views. Personally, it gets tired some trying to lvl, and always going to the same area to exp @.@ Bibiki bay >.< anyways, it deals how well the party and the people in it work together like Shippo said :X

I only leveled THF to 37 for a sub job, but I will tell you, it's very under-rated in public opinion but IMO, highly essential in a party.
A good THF keeps the hate planted on the tank so the WHM only needs to really cure 1 person, and as a DD who likes to unleash, it's very important for me to have that THF to keep the hate in check.

So, THF's can pull, keep the hate on the tank, they have awesome WS when using SATA and can SC with just about any DD, and also, your party gets more chances for drops when it's a THF2.

People do not understand the complexity of the job and how it can enhance any party.

Thf is one of the harder jobs to use in pts because you actually need your party to cooperate with you. Now to most people this may sound simple, but for so many people in game that's something they just can't do. All it takes is one person to screw you up as a thf and chances are that one person will screw you up a lot. If you don't have a good party, no matter how hard the thf tries they won't be able to be at their best.

But with a decent set up and decent people thf is an amazingly fun job. No other job can drop the giant numbers thf do and never become the target of the mob's attention. I stopped subbing /nin in pts because more often then not my shadows would wear off before a monster took them down, and gaining berzerk and double attack just helps out more the dual wield imo.

Thf is a fun class, but requires some thought and effort behind it. If you want to put forth some sort of effort while pting then you can go thf.

Yes they can. DRG Jump High Jump Penta Thrust Super Jump No hate and 7 Hits with a Polearm is de roxorz

Also Any job can sub thf lvl 60+ and go ape with SATA <insert name of strong 1 ws here> and not get hate.

And in the grand scheme of things a thfs dmg sucks. their DoT is atrocious but they give those hate spikes to keep hate on a tank.

IMO THF i can take or leave them. they are useful sometimes but sometimes ur just like wtf did they invent that job for.

PS this is not a flame im just being blunt because when this got moved to the THF forum everyone sugar coated the job.

Honestly, if you like something... why would you care about public approval for your decision?


This game is simple in many regards...
If you want 75 quickly, pick one of the many overpopulated and always in demand classes that will race you 75 in PTs. Im sure well see posts about your underdeveloped skills or you quitting cause this game is boring...

If you want to enjoy the game, pick the class you like, dont complain about never getting a PT when you hold the power to make your own. After that you just need to be patient and discover all the different activities this game can offer.

Thief's can also use acid bolts to lower the mob's defense and make fights a bit quicker overall.

Thf DoT.... Thief isn't normally a DD job. Thf/nin and Thf/war are both melee support for the most part. We lower enemy defense, add poison-like DoT to mobs we fight and can throw in a major damage spike every minute or so. Our only true DD quality is our WS which we can only effectively use once every minute (every 50sec if meritted). Our DoT in comparison with other jobs, especially melee DDs is irrelavent.

I think the need of THF in a party is situational.

In exp. parties, if the DDs are "insane", a good THF is very helpful; if the tank sucks, a good THF is always welcome. It is under the assumption that the party cooperates with the THF and the THF does not sucks.

Umm, a *good* thf doesn't do crap DoT. Any thf who soley focuses on *just* the WS is doin somethin wrong imo. When I can do 30-40 a swing on beetles I sure as hell wouldn't call it crap. But going all Acc gear+Sushi+low dmg/low delay dag will ruin your DoT. Sadly most thfs do just that though.

Now I'm not sayin Thf is *the* best DDs in the game, far from it. I'm just sayin it's pretty damn fun to go 5 hours in a pt and never even have the mob swing at me, excluding pulls. I'm saying this from the perspective of someone who's lvling war as well, a job that can pull hate through normal attacks. I play both jobs very similarly, and that includes having the best equip I can get, eating the proper food and knowing when and how to use my JAs, WS and so on. And I can honestly say my thf's Dmg isn't that far off compared to my War's. War just makes it easier to do because I don't have to rely on my PT to set something up.
