  • THF Equipment, Acc over Dex?

    As the title suggests, I’m suck wondering if I should swap out some of my Dex gear for Acc ;_;

    My stats at level 56:
    (edit: without food)

    STR 51 + 8
    DEX 62 + 22
    VIT 51 - 1
    AGI 58 + 7
    INT 54 + 2
    MND 38 - 3
    CHR 39 + 1

    I only have + 5 Acc with my current gear and I’m using Sole Sushi.

    I had just got into a party (RNG, PLD, SMN, BLM, looking for a refresher, and me THF), the RNG leader checks me and then sends me a tell saying I need more Acc and I’m not suitable for the party.

    This is by no means a flame or rant about party set-ups or elitists.

    The RNG explains in a reasonable manner that I need more Acc and he will replace me because I will not gain TP fast enough to SC with him. Of course I get pissed off with being invited to a pt, being called a gimp (in so many words), and then asked to leave. But I keep my cool and take what the RNG says as friendly advice.

    I know my Acc is low, but I’ve never felt I had a problem hitting an IT++ mob, the TP gain I agree with and to help I use a Triple Dagger.

    I could buy a few peaces of Acc gear and just switch back and forth for SATA, but what I really want to know is how important do you feel Acc is for a THF?, I can't afford some of the best Acc peaces of armour but I could buy enough to give me +15-20 I think, though this would leave me flat broke ;_;

    Swapping gear mid battle is of course the best solution but in the long run would I be best to focus on Acc rather then Dex?

    +22 DEX = +11acc + the 5 you already have = +16acc (your current accuacy modifier). This coupled with sushi (I assume you use), is enough to easily wail on mobs at your current level, but at level 60 (and it's a rather swift change), you'll be fighting mobs that suddenly have higher evasion than you may be used to. Not to mention, you'll be learning Dancing Edge at that level and its damage is primariliy based off of your accuracy.

    Now, if your issue is money, I can't suggest much, because accuracy on gear instantly makes it expensive (unless something unwanted comes with it). Take for example, the Jujitsu Gi. Without the +4acc on this piece of armor, I'd predict it costing a maximum of 100k (though probably 30-50k). On my server it costs 1M. That's 900k~/4acc = 225k gil per +1acc basically.

    I assume your +5acc comes from a tilt belt...if not, you may want to get one (3k on my server). Battle Gloves are a reasonable choice as well (50k on my server). There's also a sapling NM in North Gustaberg that drops an Optical Earring with +1acc, and if you're feeling lucky, you can repeatedly kill Stroper Chyme's in Ordelle's caves until you get a Shikaree Ring (maybe even go for 2).

    Because not everyone has the ridiculous amount of gil required to purchase a Scorpion harness, Life belt, Peacock Charm and what-have-you, these are the alternatives that must be utilized.

    BTW, if you can afford a Life Belt......it is ftw.

    With great power comes complete disregard for any and all responsibility.

      I say do the best with what ya got dont let some guy tell ya how to do your job, I always thought that DEX was the most important stat. Acc boosting equip shouldnt be your main priority.

        I get my +5 Acc from the new Jaridah peti body armour and i've just bought a life belt.

        Untill some items sell this will have to do lol, but i am switching Life belt for Royal Knight's Belt and a few other peaces for the DEX boost to SATA, seems to work well, as long as i dont hit a bit of lag ; ;

          You're in the positive then. Lifebelt + jaridah + sushi should be enough. And you're right, /equip macro = instant win.

            /equip macros get you the best of both worlds. I am an equip swapping fiend, I have sets for Pulling (+RAcc), TP Build (+Acc, +Haste%), SA (+DEX, +Atk), and SATA (+DEX, +AGI, +Atk)

              life belt is a very useful piece of equipment you can use it for the rest of your life ^^ it's a good investment.

              While you're doing normal auto attacking, having equipment that gives +ACC will benefit more imo because you can now stack some STR and ATTK on other slots to help increase your damage per swing. Dex doesn't really help with your normal swing damage but help for your SA modifier.

                Booting you for not having accuracy gear is kind of rough, particularly if you all hadn’t started fighting yet. At least he could have waited until he saw how often you were hitting.

                I use equipment swap macros for SATA and TP build. I think I will borrow the idea from Myaku and make one for SA; it’s a very good idea.

                I am not sure that things like Sniper’s Rings help much if you are using sushi. I use Sniper’s and I think that I hit just as often without them (as long as I am using sushi). Alternative rings are the Venerer Ring and the Jaeger Ring (?), both of which require CoP. I also use the Life Belt and Battle Gloves, which are generally more affordable.

                  Re: THF Equipment, Acc over Dex?

                  No offense...but you're a thf

                  Your best abilities are those that help you make gil. Use them as a thf shines outside of parties moreso then in from my experiance. You can *easily* make enough gil for woodsman rings and such at your lvl with a little effort.

                  As for acc gear, CC boomerang +1(+4acc), Jaeger ring(+4acc) If you have Riverene access and a few friends, Venerer(+3acc) which you can buy or quest, Woodsman/snipers(+5acc), life belt for TP gain(which you have), Storm Zucchetto (+4acc from assault missions), Battle Gloves or the Jaridah Bazubands(+3acc)and a Bone Knife+1 in your off hand because the triple dagger sucks. =/

                  None of these items cost over 2 mil, and the only one that even breaks 1 mil are the snipers/woodsman. Even if you have to stop and farm to afford these items, it's better to have them and make every party you join from that point on that much better. Most of them can be used for the rest of the game so it's a wise investment in that as well.

                  Another thing that might help your TP gain, as well as help you to do more Dmg, is to sub war. If you are wearing all +dex/acc gear and eating sushi, your att must be horrible. Doing 0 dmg will net you 0 tp. But with war you'll have zerk to help your apparently poor att and you'll also get double attack which could easily get you more TP then dual wielding daggers now that the TP floor is gone.

                    I think past 60, you need a bit more acc. At 60, dancing edge is notorious for missing. In fact, some people stick with viper bite until 65.
