    Re: THF and Promyvion

We had a PLD tank all of our Promyvions...

I went as BST to 2 of our promies (Dem and Holla) and DRG to Mea.

100% success on all of them, but I guess that's because I went with my LS and we planned everything before we went in. Only problems we had were deaths on the top floor, luckily people brought reraise items, or that'd have been a wasted trip!

      Re: THF and Promyvion

The only full wipe I ever had was in a pickup group that didn't want to play things safe on one of the mid-levels. But after I reraised and raised all of them, (and the BLM tractored the few that were in a bad spot), we were back in action, and it went really well.

I still maintain that PLD is almost ideal for Mea's NM. When it starts spamming that one attack it has, Invincible can't be beat. Especially since the WHM can then Bene and not worry about being beaten to death immediately after.

Yeah, I never understood the anti-PLD sentiments in Promys. I love em, I think they're the best ones for it personally.

I don't believe that there are something like "useless" jobs for any missions, just the player are too lazy to think of strategies and rather to get all the DDs and of course a Nin tank to charge it right away...

(Yes, I'm replying to old post, but this needs to be cleared up.)

I've had experience with THF's using dagger, hand-to-hand, and sword in Promyvions.

Dagger: Meh damage. Leave it at home.
Hand-to-hand: Accuracy was horrendous. Maybe I was geared wrong the one time I tried it?
Sword: With squid sushi, TP building was still a tad slow, but SATA + Fast Blade was great damage.

With a group that can set up for SATA, good THF with a decent sword is definitely no leecher.

Of course, how many promy pick up group can actually set up for SATA? (No, I don't know the answer--I've done around 20 promyvion runs, and every single one of them with my LS. Frankly, I don't want to know.)

              Re: THF and Promyvion

I personally think unless you're gonna wear ACC knuckles/gear, eat sushi, and sub /MNK for hand-to-hand, It's overall useless.

Dagger was actually my choice of preference to go into Promy with. My LS hated me at first for it, but I proved them wrong by TPing and stacking Shadowstich with SATA. It was more frequent than Fast Blade, but for less damage.

Sword was interstingly annoying IMHO. While it does have a slightly higher delay than daggers do, the fact of wielding a weapon any lower than C makes me cry just a bit. By the time I TPed with sword, I felt as though I could have done twice or 1.60x as fast with dagger. But for the sake of WS (if we were doing SC), I would use sword.

A well rounded thief uses all the tools available to them.

                Re: THF and Promyvion

Since we're on the topis of THF and Promyvion. I was hoping to get some input from you guys if possible.

I'm about to do Promyvions again (Dem,Holla, and Mea) and I'm struggling between bringing WAR,BLU, or THF.

However the thing is I've done alot of meritting with my THF and I was wondering if I could do Viper Bite in the Promyvions with 8 Dagger merits. I was thinking along the lines of Icarus Wing at beginning for a SATA Viper Bite on our PLD tank, regular TP build, SATA Viper Bite again. Of course this is all so dependent on if I'm going to get Viper Bite at lvl 30 (I think I do), I know about the Fast Blade thing.

In terms of WAR, I have 4 merits into Evasion so I think I can help tank a bit and deal some DMG with WAR

In terms of BLU, I still have those 11 walhara waters (30HP and MP recovery instant) so I could be pretty useful with Bludgeon and Head Butt.

                Again, I'm so confused ; ;

p.s: Does anyone know if you still get walhara waters after you get the walhara turban if you keep turning in 100 pieces?

No idea; why not change to THF, pack a warp item, and get someone to tele you. Walk into a Promyvion, and see if Viper Bite is listed in the weaponskills menu?

You'd scare everyone to death (and destroy the mobs fast) if you can use Viper Bite on those critters.

I don't know how many merits but I have heard of THF people using Viper Bite in promies. I really heard it totally rocks...but you need the merits...like you said...

BTW: SA + Fast Blade is just something I used before I got Viper bite so I reverted to my old ways. It works ok but then again I have capped Sword skill(for thf) at lvl 30.
