THF71 Equipment Problems

I recently reached level 71, and I really have equipment problems now.. This concerns my daggers, rings, belt and body armor. Solo is fine, just need advise on what to wear in party's.

Daggers
I use a Hoplite's Harpe and a Lust Dagger as sub. I been thinking about Behemoth's Knife, Garuda's Dagger... I don't know how that works out. Even considered a Beetle Knife +1, for the accuracy and low delay.

Ring's
I use 2 Grace Ring's, and been wondering about Sniper's. On my server, Sniper's are 1,750,000 each and Grace Ring's 1 mil.

Belt
I bought a Warwolf Belt, but still using a Life Belt. I don't know what's better to wear. I could equip the Warwolf Belt in my WS, but as most of my WS's have multiple hits, I might need Accuracy too. Or does accuracy not even affect a WS? ._.

Body Armor
Using a Scorpion Harness for exp, WS and solo. Soon, there will be a Hecatomb Harness and Dragon Harness available to get. I don't know if they're really worth it. SH gives Acc. and Evasion! I don't know, sigh.


Would be great if I can get lightened up a bit on this. But please don't just say "You need to use ??? because it's better," but also please explain why. Thanks in advance. ._.

I probably shouldn't be answering you because im only 70, but I still have my opinion. I think Hoplites Harpe is still a great dagger choice. You might want to look into subbing a Miseracorde+1 even though it probably still doesn't break through to 5tp per hit. A fix for this could be Raja's Ring if you've finished CoP, a great alternative to Grace or Snipers (when i get mine i'll be replacing a sniper's full-time).

It has been debated as to whether or not Accuracy boosts help WS' land more hits, i'm not sure where to get some parsed info about it so i dunno. In my personal experience I get higher results when swapping out to DEX, AGI, and STR/Att gear from ACC when doing WS (Except DE, i keep my ACC on). So I would keep Life and Warwolf. Hecatomb and Dragon Harness will both be great to swap in for WS and SATA, go for those. Right now I'm swapping in a Blue Cotehardie. As for the rings, If you can afford it, keep them both, but otherwise I would recommend wearing snipers full-time, and perhaps keeping around the cheaper Fluorite Rings to swap in (since you'll just use them for SA), its still an extra +6 DEX and for not very much.

My personal feelings.

At 70 most mobs don't have that great evasion. So just eatting sushi really makes wear accuracys gears kind of pointless. So I'm pretty much wear Swordbelt +1, Flame Ring (STR Ring)....etc (basically STR/atk gear).Also I think most of the times your using Shark Bite and that's only 2 hits so accuracy isn't an issue there. So that's why I don't think you need the sniper rings.

As for body armor, I would suggest using the ranaper's harness(sp? I'm sorry) for TP gain and switching into a Dragon Harness/Hectacomb Harness. I like the Dragon Harness personally b/c Hectacomb Harness is out of reach for me; ;

As far as daggers are concern, I use a Martial Knife+1 (TP Bonus) and a Garuda's Dagger(low delay, agi+, and atk). I really really want to try the Blau dagger but god damn it's 20 mil ; ;

Hmm well, I guess it really depends on your overall equips and the food you use. I personally always got as much acc as i could on my equips for TP gain, so I could use attack food. Keep in mind you can and should use macros for changing equips. 1 build for TP gain and 1 build for WS.

I personally used H.Harpe/G.Dagger until I got P.Harpe. I parsed a few PTs with multiple offhand daggers and I found garuda was better than gully, misercode and unlocked heartsnatcher with an H.Harpe mainhanded. If you could get a sirocco kukri or stylet, that would make a better offhand dagger imo. Blau would be a better dagger for either mainhand or offhand imo, but it's horribly expensive.

For rings, your best bet would be to use snipers for tp gain, and swap out dex rings for WS. If you can only afford one set of rings, use dex if you eat sushi, and snipers if you eat attack food.

For the body, I personally tested out dragon harness, and it was very....VERY nice for WS (hit my highest DE on deco weapons ever, 1715 dmg without trick attack), however, it is also horribly expensive. If you can get your hands on an assault jerkin, I would sell the SH. Use jerkin for TP, and switch to harness for WS. Fyi, dragon harness did higher average WS dmg than Hecatomb Harness, and seems to be quite a bit better for WS.

As for the belt, I personally use life for tp and warwolf for WS. If youre eating sushi your acc should be fine without life. If youre using attack food, you can always switch back to lifebelt for your WS macro if you notice youre missing hits of your WS too much.

I personally find dex+30 acc+15 (or acc+20 in a non ToAU area that bastok does not control) enough acc for DE on VT-IT exp mobs with attack food.

By the way, check out a lv 42 boomerang if you haven't already done so, "Combat Caster Boomerang+1/+2" which gives acc+4/+5 when in an area not controlled by your home country and with signet on. I personally prefer it over lightning bow+1 in areas where it works.

Oh and, just for the record. No one should ever wear hecatomb gear 24/7. The slow is killer. Use it for WS only.

I think for Daggers i'll use Hoplites Harpe and Garuda's Dagger for now, should work till level 75. After that I'll look into it.
Rings, I'll buy a Sniper's Ring, and swap one ring for a Grace ring during WS. (Lol that's as much as I can afford atm, don't feel like farming.) Ow yea.. I'd use Rajas Ring ofcouuurse but i'm on Pm2-5 lol.
Belt, Warwolf Belt for WS, Life Belt for TP. ^^
Body.. I'll get me a Dragon Harness for WS's when I have the ability to get one.

Cool thing about gear is that there are so many choices. Honestly though play with what gear that you like to use. I actaully use Misercordie and HN still at 75. I love the speed. I tried out the Hopeless Harpe and found the delay too slow. But then again that's me. In full ACC gear I was out TP'ing SAMS and keeping up with RNGs pre-ranged weapon nerf. And even with my piddly lil knife I was hitting a lot more often than those I PT'd with and we all know that THF melee damage ain't what we're wanted for. I think I could get maybe 10 more damage per swing and maybe 100 at least in WS damage... but with the really low delay... I hit so often that I'm WS'ing more than THFs with higher delay weapons. But play your style. :D

Umm... As for body armor, if you have the means to acquire a Hecatomb Harness, you'll love it till the end of days. :D I myself do SH for TP gain and then swap out to the Hecatomb for WS.

But again I stress... play the way you want. Your gear won't change your play style and really other people don't analyze everything you do under a microscope!

My advise would be... upgrade to the Harpe and camp the Sirocco Kukri NM for the best offhand weapon aside from Mercurial Kris. If you cant, then get Misericorde as main hand. Garuda's dagger as an offhand is a good choice but H.Harpe is a lousy weapon honestly, due its high delay and semi high damage. You would be better off with some of the other options out there that offer a better delay vs damage. Heart Snatcher, Stun Kukri +1, Behemoth Knife, Daylight Dagger

Ring's

Forget the snipers... snipers are not worth the price. Get some friends together and get yourself a Jaegar ring off the Dobson flies. Consider investing in STR rings for melee and swapping out DEX rings for WS. Your Grace rings are fine for right now until you are at a level for Thunder Rings. Ideally finishing CoP for your Rajas ring should be a goal as well if you dont have one.

Belt

Use either the Warwolf or get yourself a Swordbelt +1 for WS if you are using Sushi. Use Warwolf if you are using Shark Bite(DEX mod), and Swordbelt +1 if you are using Dancing Edge(For ATT). If SH is the body piece you insist on using for WS then life belt shouldnt be needed with sushi.

Body Armor

SH should be fore TP gain mostly, but if you dont have a Rapparee harness you should get one, because the haste will offset those high delay daggers you have. Faster TP = more WS. I would consider Blue Cotehardie(DEX & STR) if you are doing Shark Bite, and the Assault Jerkin(ATT) for Dancing Edge.

As you move onto endgame armors, Hecatomb Harness is fine to have, since you are a Mithra, you could use the STR boost. Dragon Harness is a luxury item, but once I got mine, I pretty much dropped SH because by then I was investing merits in Dagger skill and once you cap Dagger merits, youll find you need less and less ACC boosting gear. These days I rarely use Heca.Harness because my focus is more on ATT than STR and ACC since I can boost that in other areas as you can see in my equipment links.
