Equipment Choices

Hello guys

I've recently came across a difficult choice for a few sets of gears. I'm not sure for which to go for so please give me a few pointers.

Ranged Attack Slot:
Lightning Bow +1 or Bomb Core?

Hands:
Wood Gauntlets/Dragon Mittens or Tarasque mitts +1?

Legs:
Dragon Subligar or Dusk Ledgadlesn(sp?)

Back:
Commander's Cape or Amemet Mantle +1?

Keep in mind I am talking about ONLY WS situation.

As far as mobs are concerned . . . . let's say were talking about mobs in Sky and the Lufaise Meadows.

I'm just really lost on which to balance out. Status? or ATK? *confused* ; ;

Also VERY confused on which stats I could cut back on. I think DEX is by far the most important because it's a modifier for both SA and SB. AGI seems like only a modifier for TA. STR seems like it's useful too. I'm just not sure in which order my stats should be

Whats wrong with xbow and acids in the ranged slot? They make a huge difference in damage for all melees and should raise your WS's more than the DEX from the lightning bow+1 would.

Nothing's wrong with it. I just find it pointless when I have a RNG in PT using it ^^

Ah, that changes it then. I'm guessing he's using O-bow then. I rarely get to pt with thf's on my rng, but when I do, I love it when they use acids for me. Allows me to use bow for extra dmg. But then I'm guessing O-bow is his most damaging ranged weapon at this point. And now I'm babbling...

I recommend Lightning Bow +1 since you're going to be pulling and switching off ranged weapons messes up your TP. Amemet +1 I recommend, just because attack + really helps out a Thief build TP.

What does attack have to do with building TP? I thought at this point thf's were nolonger hitting for 0 points of damage b/c they used a high dmg dagger in main hand, and a stat building one in the other. I see how it helps DoT, but not TP gain.

If you are looking for gear to switch into for your WS i would say go for the stat+ gear rather than the att+ gear. I have been given to understand that stats matter more than att when you are actually doing the ws, but then i could have been mislead as well.

ATK is useful for when your TP gaining. Mainly so you can do more DMG in the PT.

I understand that I should boost my stats for WS , but from what I understand you need to have a certain amount of STR/ATK for when your fighting IT type mobs and the mobs in Lufaise Meadows and some parts of Sky have IT mobs.

Neither, Staurobow +1 isntead. The +4 agi is better than the +3 Dex or + 12 Attack from bomb core in my opinion. Can also use status bolts if you so desire. Know you aren't asking for other situations but usable for soloing as well.

Hands:

Dragon Mittens seems more balanced for weaponskill damage.

Legs:
Dragon Subligar or Dusk Ledgadlesn(sp?)

Actually would be a choice between Dragon Subligar and Dusk Trousers. Dusk Trousers here actually. Sometimes you won't be stacking Sneak Attack on weaponskill. Dusk Trousers will still give you +14 attack should you be Trick Attacking or Weaponskilling without any job abilities at all wheras Dragon Subligar only really helps improve weaponskill damage if you stack Sneak Attack on it. The +enmity of Dragon Subligar is nice if you're tanking though.

Back:
Commander's Cape or Amemet Mantle +1?

Amemet Mantle +1, +1 str more for commander's cape is good here, but probably won't move your damage curve as significantly as the +attack from amemet.

ATK > AGI end game...

If you're XPn' in THF burn (in meadows) go Bomb Core, just don't pull.

Also to clear something ATK > STR with THF.

After 50 lvls of being a thf I never hit for 0, not even on a buffed crab. I actually didn't believe Thfs could hit for 0 until my last pt on war to be honest. On things I was hitting for 20-30 dmg a swing when I lvled thf there, the thf in my pt barely broke 10 dmg. That can all be summed up by crappy gear and sushi use pre 50 imo, as not only was he hitting for donuts, but I was gaining TP just as fast as him as a War/thf.

Good thfs don't do 0 dmg O.<

THFs who don't use sushi don't do 0 dmg you mean.

I use Assualt Jerkin with Sushi sometimes and will hit for 1, but it makes me a bad THF right? (@67THF w/ Garuda's Dagger)
