  • Equipment Help

People have probably asked things like this many times, but oh well. I'm a level 62 thief, and I'm a bit confused about what to do with equipment during battle and what equipment I should have.

Currently this is what I wear during fights:http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/profile.xml?91329
I don't have any other equip that I swap in with macros, I'm wondering if I should be doing that. So I sort of need help with that If it's not too much trouble I'd also like to know the best equipment I can have at this level. Thanks.

    Re: Equipment Help

Since you're probably using Dancing Edge your gear is looking pretty well balanced, since you need the ACC to land a powerful WS. One major factor through those levels for me was what kind of food I was using vs. the balance of equips I had on. If I was eating sushi I would lean toward more dex/agi/str/atk, things that would directly benefit the damage of my WS. Accuracy is usually not as much of an issue with DE when you are using sushi, it seems. Still a balance may be necessary depending on the difficulty of mobs you are fighting. When using ATK food(on say VT-low ITs) I would just balance my gear like you are doing -- no equip switch macros needed.

The only time equip switch macros become more essential is when you start building up your arsenal with equips that you couldn't see yourself using for the benefit of your WS. You no doubt noticed this when using VB, and you will notice it again when using Shark Bite. IMO when using 1-3 hit WS's like those, I will switch completely to STR/DEX/AGI/ATK and lose the ACC for skillchain.

The way I've always done it, is just always kept DEX/AGI, ACC, and DE separate macros. That's just the way I like to do things, sometimes I don't use the macros, sometimes I do. It depends, again, on what we're fighting. One key rule I try to keep is always keep the equip changes enough to fit in ONE macro, it gets way too annoying otherwise.

If you did want to go that route, the only key affordable pieces I could see you switching is your rings for Fluorite(or Grace), and your belt for an RK Belt. Then again, since you're using Dancing Edge I don't see it as a very necessary thing to do.

        Re: Equipment Help

how much is the scorp.h. at bahamut??

with sushi and some accuracy (15-25) isen`t that enough?
speaking of life belt and some other

i can`t look at your equip, filter ^^

so i would say, sushi, life belt and some others sounds good. i`m levling 2 melee, SAm and THF, one can unse scorp the other haubergeon.. if i have to get both i will end up in farming for months i guess :/

            Re: Equipment Help

            can`t you do some bcnm?
i know that thf is not the most wanted in those, but the 40tier The Worm's Turn can be done with thf markmentship up very good

you can also try for nm camping, there are several killable with your level yield 1m+

                Re: Equipment Help

last I checked a scorpian harness on bahamut was 7,400,000 gil, it probably went up though, I havn't been on in a month Only reason I want one is for dancing edge, I'd rather land all of the hits then only landing 3 or 4.

Usually I camp NMs, but that's not the problem I have, it's holding onto the gil. As soon as I get money I spend it

                  Re: Equipment Help

I didnt get scorpion harness until I was LV70. If you are using sushi it really wont make a difference if you have it or not, its a pure novelty piece. Better for soloing/tanking than XP PTs, in my humble opinion.

                    Re: Equipment Help

i've only experienced the SH once, thats when my friend let me borrow it, and i was pretty impressed. But other than that, i don't have any snipers or anything sadly, i do hit alot, i exp with more attack based gear my assault jerkin, my war boots etc, i have like 25 acc with the war gear, i'm still waiting on an O. hat run, but for now the gear i have doesn't help much, but it works real nice, i hit maybe 8/10 hits not bad to be honest. i do agree with the above poster for it being better to solo/tank gear. I still nail 1000+ SA dancing edges as thf/war with dex+40 on me
