Hi

I just reached lvl 60 and from what I understand about Trick Attack is basically you can Trick Attack or Trick Attack + WS onto your tank while the mob is facing the tank. Basically I'm just wondering if it has effected the way you play THF drastically ( as in splitting SA and TA ...etc)

From what I can tell though, even the thieves that don't change their tactics because of Assassin at least have some leeway to screw up. I.e. mob turns back to tank right before WS goes off. SO now you get TA but no SA dmg... with Ass, at least you don't have so much to lose...

I found that now I split them up, doing Trick Attack on the tank at the beginning to help with hate, which is useful since most parties I'm in have a Ninja Tank and a Monk or Samuraii as DD which makes hate bounce around like a battle of Pong. I'm not completely sure how much it helps, but it's been working great so far.

Only time I usually combine the 2 now are when doing Weapon Skills like Dancing Edge, it adds quite a bit of damage to the combo which is always a nice bonus, exspecially when my regular attack on IT mobs is anywhere from 10 to 50 depending on the day and food.

Well I found that I don't want to split them up unless I really have. The only time that pretty much happens is if we're fighting the mob with a PLD and WS mid-HP.

I think I really like the idea of it ^^ Splitting may not be the best but it definitely is more versatile. When a PLD holds hate so well that WS can't turn the mob around, TA from the PLD is a totally new tool IMO.

I still keep my sneak attack and trick attack together for the weaponskill. Assassin does help a great deal though; whenever the tank has too much hate or the other skillchain partner just can't turn the mob, the extra damage from trick attack still kicks in.

I choose yes, it does change the way I play THF. Don't get me wrong, I still prefer stacking SATA+WS all together, any time I get a chance I will. However, a good THF should realized if the mob isn't turning, and just use TA+WS in that case, walk around the mob and to SA. My big thing is not to waste my abilities just because they're ready. Like previous posters say, this usually happens with a PLD tank and definitely gives THF more versatility when it comes to partying with different style tanks. Pre patch it was sometimes pointless to party with a PLD if they weren't really aware of their hate threshold...cause TA+WS use to suck ass. Now its really a different story, I love this change to this day.
