    Re: Viper Bite

What he's referring to is the (your)ATK/(mob)DEF ratio imaginary "cap." IIRC once you get much past 1.8 ratio, your damage increase will taper off with more ATK. What you will probably find is that ATK doesnt help much with VB damage, because its most likely capped out when you have ATKx2 in the formula for WS damage. What will probably help the most is DEX/AGI. As you've found, you'll reach your "cap" with those values as well, considering you have good gear. This is really the "secret" to what makes THF so great during those VB levels. You can almost do no wrong with your gear, we'll always do great consistent damage with VB. If you've reaches the cap with your DEX/AGI/ATK the only thing I can say is maybe stick some extra STR gear in there to increase the damage just a tad more(although STR gear is limited until higher levels unfortunately).

I do find your testing very interesting, because one thing that hasnt been quite catalogued is how/when DEX/AGI caps with respect to SATA+WS damage.

      Re: Viper Bite

I posted the Weaponskill Data Analysis that includes this information into the wiki pages at http://wiki.ffxionline.com/index.php...n_Skill_Damage, I included ZQM's explanation of the PDIF. Here's the excerpt:

PDIF: (your ATK/target's DEF) for melee WS there is a damage cap on PDIF of 2.4, for ranged WS it is capped at 3

      Example by ZQM:
If the mob has 400 DEF and you have 600 ATK, PDIF is 1.5. PDIF also caps at 2.4, so if the mob has 200 DEF and
you have 600 ATK, PDIF is only 2.4 even though 600/200 is 3.

I also have revisted the original Japanese site at http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Part/6371/memo.html which provided most of the initial Weaponskill data and they actually have a question mark next to the Secondary Attribute. And the Kanji can be interpreted as your weapon base damage instead of your "attack."
