So with the patch and all the new food, have any of you guys been trying it out? I tried out the Squid Sushi(DEX+6 AGI+5 HP+20 ACC+14) in XP PT today and it seemed to work pretty good. I believe my max SATA+VB was in the 500 range(against bats). I have no valid way to test the ACC+14 but that is what is rumored to be. There's also Sole Sushi(STR+5 DEX+6?) that I want to try out, not quite sure on the stats but it was something to that effect. So has anybody found any other interesting food in the new patch? Are most of you guys sticking to the STR+ ATK+ foods and just using the upgraded version as you get higher level(i.e. Meat Mithkabob->Dhalmel Meat, etc.)? Interested in input, thanks.

Going for yellow curry and coeurl sautee, myself.
The attack foods all have a cap on maximum attack you can get from them. Kabobs will cap out around 60-65 I guess (for mithra thf anyway)...you can only get 60 attack out of them. Yellow curry caps at 75, and coeurl sautee is around there, too, I believe. Bison steak caps out at 90, but is only 18% attack so you don't approach the cap until 72+ I would think.

There's your reference. (As you can see yellow curry is almost the same as coeurl sautee, but gives very slightly better stats.)Ixaera

There's a nice chart to look at when you aren't sure of which food will give you the highest attack bonus.

Chiefkabobs only give an extra Agi stat over Mithkabobs, and last an hour. I see the extra half hour as a down side though, because if you use one and you're party ends half way through it you've wasted a lot of gil. With mithkabobs you don't really waste that much money if you're party ends in the middle of one.
I'm willing to bet it costs a lot less to make food that costs 20k, and it's free if you get the drops yourself.

Well unfortunately my Food crafting skill is at 0, and I don't have the required Raw Fish Handling either...so I'm s-o-l. But anyways, I'm just not sure if I need STR+ ATK+ or not. My main worry is to get TP as quick as possible, and I almost never hit for zero on regular hits because my STR is decent anyways. Maybe the new food can be seen as a way to even out different races, such as Elvaan THF would need more DEX, AGI, while not needing the STR+ ATK+. Taru on the other hand would definitely want to stick with the STR+ ATK+ food. I'm not sure if I have the right idea here, but I don't want to be wasting money on food that only ups my damage by a little bit, when I could be skyrocketing it with another food.
I think I will just experiment with different food to see what works out the best. Unfortunately I'm on PS2 and I don't have a parser to record damages. Frankly money is not so much an issue right now, as I have been farming for quite a while and I'm just going on a leveling spree now. If anybody has experimented with food other than the typical STR+ ATK+ food please respond here. I'm looking for something that would hopefully benefit Elvaan THFs the most, but any feedback is appreciated. Thanks again guys.
BTW, Squid Sushi+1 is rumored to be ACC+36. Maybe some of this new food will change the way some people equip their character? Melees opting to go for mostly STR+ ATK+ on equips may be able to get away with eating food for their ACC+. I think Square wanted to change the food system drastically with this new patch and I'm just trying to find out what can be taken advantage of.Typho - Elvaan - San d'Oria - Rank 10 - Titan

I'm in a static party with a bard and I'm also /war for now, I may be switching to /nin soon though.
I was wondering if minuet should be counted in before or after food effect. I have 261 base attack, I'm not sure how much Minuet III gives, I'm guesssing 30? So assuming it's 30 that would put me at 291 without food. But is the food calculated at 261 or 291?
Thanks for your replies in advance. I would test this myself but the only bard I know is my static bard, and he's out of town for the holidays.PLD 55 DRG 34 WAR 33 THF 60 NIN 21 RNG 34 SAM 10 MNK 18 WHM 32 BLM 25 DRK 4 all jobs unlocked, all others level 1

I tried out Sole Sushi, then used a Mithkabob after it wore off... and I didn't notice a difference, really. I also tried out Squid Sushi+1 and then a Mithkabob... and not only did my TP rise faster with the Squid Sushi+1, but I was doing roughly the same damage with my SATAs. I use Mithkabobs still when I first get into a PT or if the PT is not that great, but with good PTs, I use Squid Sushi+1 now.
Squid Sushi+1 is about 35-40k/stack on my server, but I can sometimes find it in bazaars for almost half that. Still expensive, which is why I save it exclusively for good PTs.

I tried Sole Sushi (still have leftovers I pop whenever I feel like I need a little food but am not exping), Squid Sushi +1, Yellow Curry, Meat Mithkabob, and Meat Chiefkabob, all on darters, because that's what the set's been exping on.
Yellow Curry -- Max damage about 1170 or so (I go all out attack, so my max is lower, but I hit it more often), avg about 990...as in, while berserked I NEVER hit below 950, and while not berserked, I never went below 700, and that was only once. Attack with curry alone was 388, with berserk on, 486.
Sole Sushi -- Same max damage, about, but averaged less. TP gain was nice, but chains were slower because I was averaging a good 200 damage less than normal, hitting the higher numbers only once every other chain.
Squid Sushi +1 -- The only difference I saw (besides stat diff) from sole sushi was the faster TP gain. I was still averaging less.
Meat Mithkabob -- The attack these give now is about 8 less than curry for me (different at other levels, I know), but while berserked my attack was a good 20 less than with curry. The difference wasn't huge, but it was somewhat noticeable. I did do less than 950, sometimes, while berserked with this food.
Meat Chiefkabob -- Not a whole lot different from mithkabob anymore for me...but it was a bit better. Not enough better to be worth the gil anymore, IMO.
And that's why I'm sticking to Yellow Curry.Ixaera

Anyway, I noticed that at L69 I was getting more atk from chiefkabobs than from curry. Even when I hit the cap on chiefkabobs (65 atk), I would still get more atk that way because of the higher %.

You really shouldn't be getting higher attack from kabobs unless your attack is very low o.O I get 382 with mithkabob, 388 with curry. But that's not too bad, it's the 20 less while berserked that bugs me.
And yeah, curry is 6k on bismarck, while chiefkabobs are 18-20k for 12. But I don't mind the expense, honestly. It's not that much, and since I can *see* the difference, I don't feel like I'm wasting gil.
Also, you may have been misreading. What I said was:
"not a whole lot different from mithkabob"
Curry is most certainly better than chiefkabob at 68.Ixaera

The problem I have with curry is there are rarely places that you can feel assured that you'll be partying for a full 3 hours. If the whm suddenly has to go, or you get a bad pull and die, that's 10k down the drain. I think SE should increase the yield to 2 curry's per synth and lower the duration to 90 mins. /shrug.You know I'm right.
