  • Gil in chests, split?

me and a THF were in a PT.. while he picked a chest, I noticed i got gil out of it. My question is... is the Gil split evenly among the PT? Or how does that work?

Yes, gil from chests and coffers is split evenly.

      What?
      No.

I do not know the EXACT numbers, but I know this is somewhat how it works.
Lets assume you are opening the same chest with these different situations.
      Solo: 5000g (total: 5000)
      Duo: 4900g/ea (total: 9800)
      Trio: 4850g/ea (total: 14550)
      4 : 4700g/ea (total: 18800)
      5 : 4600g/ea (total: 23000)
      6 : 4500g/ea (total: 27000)

What works out pretty nice, is a lot of people assume that it splits even. So if you are ever doing something with a group (AF stuff maybe?) and you pick a chest/coffer, just say this "Say, yall mind giving me back my gil? ><" 9/10 they'll be like sure, here ya go ^^

O_o picking a coffer/chest in a party at anytime is a bad idea, mimic might show up, trapped chest, ect. I allways explain, disband pick, then rejoin

People look at the world and think why, i look at the world and think why not.

gil from coffers/chests gets some unknown bonus multplier if opened in party/alliance, then gets split evenly.

You pick the chest "Hey everyone, can I get my gil back from that chest? =/"

              A trades you 6,000G
              B trades you 6,000G
              C trades you 6,000G
              D trades you 6,000G
              E trades you 6,000G
              F trades you 6,000G
              G trades you 6,000G
              H trades you 6,000G
              I trades you 6,000G
              J trades you 6,000G
              K trades you 6,000G
              L trades you 6,000G
              M trades you 6,000G
              N trades you 6,000G

If you get a trapped chest, it only gives the person who tried to open it weakness, not the rest of the group.
If you get a mimic, and there are other people standing by you... they will die However, if you're in an alliance/pt, and the other people are far enough away, the mimic won't hunt them down, he will just sit there (agro sound) for a few minutes then go away.
It is also possible to kill mimics. A 65+ pt can probbaly take one, I've heard of lv75 thf/nin soloing them (with potions), I'd assume a full alliance of lv60's can probbaly take one too. I have never killed one myself, but I hear they are rumored to have a 100% Coffer Key drop rate.

Mimics can be weaker or stronger depending which zone they are spawned in - the ones in Oz, Beadeaux, Davoi are incredibly easy for a 74+ thf/nin to solo without even using potions - ones in Tulia are a lot tougher.

I wasn't sure wether being in a party has an effect on the total gil or not. I only said it would be split evenly.

Mimics really aren't that bad, the only thing they do that really puts the pain on you is Death Trap, which can be avoided sometimes.

Carry a few antidotes with you to nullify the poison when it does eventually land. Their connect rate with you is normally pretty horrible as your evasion starts to climb with your levels. Bloody Bolts and Sleep Bolts will not work on them, Acid Bolts will. You will do damage comparable to what you'd do on an elemental to these as they are fairly high defensewise.

I wouldn't recommend soloing one until after level 66 or 67, you seem to be at a level where you can actually evade them a bit at those levels. Make sure you are set up in an area where you can take one on if it happens to turn into one.

Whenever I've killed one it dropped the coffer key for the area the coffer was in.
