So with the new patch, we can now Hide and get Yokodama every five minutes, right? Wrong. Squenix has shown an amazing lack of foresight in implementing this patch (if it is indeeed intended to actually provide a boost to THF). There is almost no practical use for it at all.
Here's the test I ran. Fighting against a Crawler (sound-aggro mob) in E.Saruta, I would Steal to create a very small amount of aggro, then another party member (WHM) would cast Banish to secure aggro. I load SA+TA, and attempt Hide.

As you can see, even against this pathetically low-level mob, Hide fails. I then thought, "Well, maybe if I'm outside of detection range, it'll work." This would be an extremely obtuse way to implement a balance tweak, but whatever. So we hunt down a River Crab (also sound aggro), I Steal, WHM casts Banish, and I run way off in the distance (well outside of radar range), SA+TA, Hide.

Once again, failure city.
So WTF is the point of this patch? So we can Yokodama on sight-only mobs? Quick, someone name off how many sight-only mobs are exp'ed on in this game!
As for the usefulness of this patch while soloing... it is even more pointless solo than in party. If the mob hasn't aggroed you yet (and won't), what difference does it make whether you can attack from the front? You can just walk around to the back!
If you are actually fighting the mob, and you try this, one of two things will happen:
a) Hide fails, which means no SA from the front
b) Hide is successful, which means (again) you can just walk around to the back
No difference at all. Oh, but now we can SA on elementals and jellies without trying to guess which side is their back! Brilliant!
Clearly, if Squenix intends this change to *actually do something*, they will need to make Hide work any time you don't have aggro. Otherwise, this is a useless footnote.
