  • Party theory 33-37?

I put NIN and WAR both through these levels, and I played secondary and primary tank during those levels. Controlling my party to help the thief was pretty easy as NIN and WAR.

Nowadays as a THF it is becoming increasingly difficult to find people that are willing to help me do my best in damage, often I find myself missing SATA when I don't communicate.

When I DO communicate, the party says the following

"Quit changing party dynamics, we were doing fine before you showed up"

"Why are you such an asshole Assarai? Just let people play."

Should I tolerate parties that let me not contribute as much as I possibly can? If the party is led by say... a drg/drk who swears he will never sub war, should I just leave that party immediately? Should I shoot for the ideal party or settle for letting my damage be subpar?

Second, should I SATA as much as possible or try to time my SATA with my TP for renkei, sometimes I do SATA at the beginning then by the time it refreshes, the monster is almost dead. The other problem is if I try to time SATA where I do it before I pull, the party members don't seem to align themselves within... 5 seconds. I think it's perfectly reasonable time limit, I followed it myself when I was primary tank or trick set upper.

Really, I try to break these newbie party habits and they fight back ferociously, unwilling to see the truth. One pld flat out ignored me before I was able to finish explaining what SATA does.

Am I out of the ordinary? Should I try to empathize with ignorance or should it be not tolerated?

To get from 32 to 33, our blm had to position himself from the ninja that didn't want to move, so I could SATA on the ninja who I knew didn't like to tank, but I SATA on her anyway. And she's a rank 7 67+ whm and blm. She should know better, right?

Yes, shoot for the ideal party. I've found that every party I get into that doesn't have a clue most people wind up dead except for me of course ^^ Utsusemi is a wonderful thing.

I was in a PT in the CN and the PLD wouldn't provoke every 30 seconds so he ended up losing hate all the time so the DRG would provoke the monster and start getting the tar beat out of her so I would just do a solo SA+Viper bite to blink tank the thing because the PLD was an idiot not doing his job.

I've found that people who don't know how to preform Fuidama are usually not so great players, but the people that do, I get along with just fine and we usually end up on each others friends lists.

As for your second question, I SATA as often as possible but I make sure to keep a constant eye on my TP as well as the other peoples in the SC and the monsters HP. If the monster has only a little bit of life left and SATA is ready and you have 100% TP just use SATA to finish it off and on the next pull use your SC/Viper Bite to glue the monster to the tank.

Ignorance should not be tolerated, if there are ignorant people in the party I give them the facts in a stern manner about how the PT is not playing to it's full potential if I am constantly missing Fuidama because they can't keep hate or are moving around or whatever. They usually tend to agree with my points about how much more damage could be done and how easier it would be to keep the monster on the tank, sometimes though people just won't listen and that's when you're like "I'm sorry, I forgot my Cloak of Stupidity +1 in my moogle house, let me go grab it so I can PT with you."

Time your Fuidama is always a good thing to do instead of doing it whenever it's ready. What makes thf so great is fuidama + ws, so if u have enough tp but u need to wait a long time for timer, u aren't doing the best dmg imo.
