  • thf/mnk....

    well, i was parting on my sam a few weeks ago. mnk was in the party. so anyways, he does a raging, hits for around 380 dmg. the thf's viper bite is hitting for ~450+ usually. so my question is...

    just damage wise, has any1 ever considered subbing mnk so they can use raging fists? its a 5hit vs viper 3 hit. And, im sure, all of us know, viper bite w/o sata is a joke, and raging is pretty damaging by itself. I do see, how distortion > fusion, but if raging does a lot more dmg, it could tip the scales in renkei dmg.

    my thf atm is lv38, i had been doing /nin, but i think i might start thf up again and try /mnk and get my h2h up to 125 for raging.

    any1 ever tried it b4?

    MNK sub could come in handy for bone PTs here and there.. but remember THF is D in h2h I believe~ better have some top notch accuracy gear if you'd want to be effective with it.

      It's actually an E rank in hand to hand.

      From my experience using hth and and combo with sata as a thf/mnk is really effective at lower levels. [I've used it up till 33]

      At higher levels I think accuracy with hth may be too low to be of use in levelup pt's. Maybe it could be overcome with some uber gear. Another thing to consider is thf usable fists are generally weaker at higher levels.

        but here's what i ask myself, why are there so many spiffy high lvl HTH weapons that are thf/drk/nin exclusive? i mean really, how many drk's and nin's you see use HTH?

          my sword skill is already more than 50 levels behind my dagger skill (both capped), i wonder how i would suck with H2H now :sweat:

            If I had to play my thief again from the very beginning (assuming my war and mnk jobs were both leveled to 16), I would have been thf/mnk until thief level 33, in which case I would switch over to thf/nin.

            But the first time around, I had war leveled, but didn't have mnk leveled, so it was just a matter of laziness.

            Late in the game, I've heard of thieves taking up h2h again in order to be more effective if they ever happen to be invited to bone PT's. Dagger should be your main focus 33+, but it doesn't hurt to take the extra time to go out there in a skillup PT and keep h2h skilled up for more versatility.

              Actually, clubs are more effective in bone parties. True Strike is awesome with fuidama.

                OK, I used this combo for XP PTs from 50-54, after that I stopped using it myself because I have trouble hitting a lot with dual wield daggers. I would only think of using this combo again if I had a scorp. harness, peakock charm and 2 sniper rings +1. It is an awesome combo though because if before every pull you boot 5+ times your first SATA is 600+ and theres nothing better for planting hate, hands down. Its frowned upon by most people, but when coffer key hunting, papyrus hunting...or anything that needs some undead killing everyone is very impressed at my ability to take 3/4 of the mobs health away with SATA Raging Fists When I hit 75 I will be subbing monk whenever possible, but untill then I go NIN sub and use club if I need to take out undead for xp SATA True strike is pretty impressive too Too bad that both those weapons are E rating for a thief ; ;
