Steal?

What are the factors that determine if steal is going to work or not on the mob your stealing from? I've heard a lot of things...like the hp of the mob...how close you are...if the mobs back is to you or not...your lvl...the mobs lvl...not sure what to believe, most of those sound pretty dumb.

lol your never going to get a straight answer for this... because whatever someone says, theres no proof behind it. I've used thf extensivly subbed, and this makes my Steal rate very poor... However if I make sure of 1 thing it seems to work a lot better...

I prime my steal, select the mob, and highlight it with the little arrow over it's head, then i make sure i'm in a running motion going past the mob, and the success rate seems to be fairly high

As for the stat? if there is one it's not sure which stat increases your success rate.

There are several items, such as Rabbit Charm, I beleive some af, that add to success rate. As for there effectivness you'll have to ask someone that's tried them

one of the pieces of the af armor increases steal rate and at leve 70 there are gloves that increase it. and of course u can dual wield 2 treasure hunter knifes at a very high level too. (have fun trying to make money to get them)

1) No you can't dual wield the rare Thief's Knife.
2) TH doesn't affect steal, so that doesn't really apply.

Only confirmed thing about steal is that getting +steal items like the Thief's Kote, THF AF set, Rogue's Ring (while the latent kicks in) does help. I can't really say one way or the other on the rest.
