  • Fuidima @.O

I just recently got to 30, I'm now 32, and doing Fuidima is such a pain in the arse!!

I have to explain the whole scenario to the party just so they can comprehend what it is, and then when I come running back with a monster it takes them at least 20 seconds to get into position and by then the secondary tank has lost aggro so the primary tank provokes and I end up doing Fuidima off the secondary tank and they almost end up dying.

Then after the first fuidima they start moving all around so I don't even care who is in front of me now it could be the BLM and I'll just fuidima off from them because they're conveniantly located there instead of wasting another 20 seconds telling them to get back into position. Gee willikers.

Maybe I'm just having some bad luck but is this the correct way to do it? Pull the monster, have secondary provoke while I fuidima off the main so they can provoke, then by the time the second fuidima is ready the main tank should have enough hate to keep it on them after the second fuidima right?

Or is there another way to do this that might be easier? @.O

Well this is the way I think should be done... You pull the monster, when you get to you're camp you active Sneak+Trick, the secondary tank provokes, the main tank gets behind the enemy, you get behind the main tank and Sneak+Trick the monster, then you run behind the secondary tank and Attack from there. Some people are fast learners some are not so best of luck to you.

Well you do have the right idea as far as the provoke order and who to trick off of...

The process of explaining how to party effectively with a THF is such a pain at your level, and trust me, we all had to go through it. When I was in the 30's I had to explain this to EVERY party I was in, and if I was lucky, they would understand.

I have found out that parties start to understand a THF's purpose at around the early 40's. At level 45 you souldn't have to explain the voke order or positioning at all because the party usually knows about this. Being a THF is a lot more fun Lv45+

Balgas, I personally suggest using SATA right before you pull (I know boomerangs don't get rid of it). Normally after I fuidama onto the tank, it's ready within seconds.

Whenever I partied with Paladins, I could easily do the second fuidama onto the secondary-provoker and have the mob not turn (even onto Rangers).

However, when partying with WARs and NINs, after the initial fuidama the secondary-provoker provokes again and I fuidama onto the WAR or NIN for the second time in less then 10 seconds. This helps A LOT for WARs and NINs since I have yet to see them keep solid hate.

This also isn't including skillchains. If we both have TP ready when I'm pulling, then I save SATA and we do it with the initial fuidama (as in secondary-provker provokes, starts SC, and I do it onto tank). I save it so that nothing goes wrong, as I value the skillchain way to much. By the time the second fuidama is ready, the monster should be near death and you can just do it onto the secondary-provoker.

If it's obvious that we're going to SC during the fight (which is the case 90% of the time), then I just go about normal except the second fuidama is the skillchain.

        Hope that helps.

I've also never had problems with people not understanding what to do. I guess was severly lucky to only party with JP or competent EN players. I never had to say anything, they knew what to do.

            Suggestion.

I actually got so frustrated playing pickup PT's with thf that I used a single macro plaette just to macro my explanations.

Then when I got to a new pt, hit ctrl+1 >
"/p Do you know how fuidama (sneak attack + trick attack) works?"

yes? then you're golden. if not, macro 2

            Ctrl+2:
When I use trick attack, my attack gives hate to the person in front of me.

            Ctrl+3:
And sneak attack gives much higher damage, but has to be done BEHIND the mob.

Skip one macro line, so I don't press wrong ^^

            Ctrl+5:
So to use both trick attack and sneak attack to control hate, I must stand behind main tank, and mob must face away from main tank. (I think I used MT here, remember having trouble fitting it in.)

            Ctrl+7
So when the puller brings the mob back, secondary tank has to provoke/gain hate, then Main tank stands behind mob.

            Ctrl+8
Then I use sneak+trick on the main tank, and he gains large hate.
Easy no? This is also called "Fuidama". You'll hear it again.

That's about it. Since I didn't want to write all that stuff more than once, I just made the macros. A bit after 40, you rarely have to explain how it works.

After these explanations some would still not get it, and say "It's not worth it", then I'd respond...

            Ctrl+0
Then you won't mind if I trick the other person, right? Since it's not worth it anyways?

After tricking the backup tank 3 times, and getting him in oranges twice, they gave up and did it my way. And then, wouldn't you know it, exp pace just stepped up a notch. ^^

I know that it's kind of taking it to the extreme, but it saved me about 4 mins of time every time I joined a party unfamiliar to fuidama. So totally I saved over an hour of time, even counting in the time it took to write the macros.

Plus I "educated" a lot of people about fuidama. That's worth something, no? ^^

Good luck! And hey! There IS a light at the end of the tunnel.
            :spin:

[Edit, just remembered about fuidama.. ^^]

I was 56 at the time, high level ppl, still no real knowledge about the "funkidama" ^^

Yes, that is often a problem.

Usually people don't get it at first, so shit hits the fan during the first fight. The next attempt usually goes much better and people actually try to do what they are told to do.

Turns out the parties I had been in were retarded. I got into two much better ones yesterday and it was soooo much easier. The PLD would automatically run behind without me having to even say anything I was like Thankyouthankyouthankyou

And now since I have Viper Bite it makes the PLD keep aggro so much easier. Hooray~!

LOL tell me about it.... i've just got 30 today and i've got someone who's not even a thf teaching me to SATA when they themselves dun have the slightly clue what it is.. Claiming to have a main job at lvl 60 plus and appearing Mr Know all... dun you just love those guys..

AT lvl 29, was asking me why not SATA? Explain to them TA is only avai at lvl 30, so they're asking me to SA instead to bring hate to tank. ??? and keep saying other thf can do it LOL

At lvl 30, asked is all melee clear about SATA how it works.. 'OK is the answer' End up... tank do not stand in line(behind mob) or too far away and i get a not in range message... or doesn't even bother.... or worse still after sec voker voke, b4 i can land SATA, in fact... just after sec voker voke.. main tank follow by a voke.. Geez...and i wasted time asking tank to move and such... it's so time wasting and i'm not doing any damage with SATA activate and not able to do it coz of movement...I end up 'WTF, forget it.. i'll just do normal SA and get the hell of aggro and xp

Few fights later.. high lvl noob ask me why not SATA and ask me to stand behind sec voker instead to do it LOL. I explained once again but nothing chancged and he insist i dun need any sec voker... i just have to do SATA behind tank. LOL

I give up.. i left the pty.

SO what i can see is that... even at higher lvls.. not many are equipped with knowledge of SATA, no to mention 30's. Frankly speaking, i've no idea how it works too playing as a mage until i read up about it.. just explaining to pty members is kinda hard for them to understand and most of them will just find it troublesome or just saying OK, i understand just as not to spppear noobish. Of course... after lvl 50 perhaps.. pty member will gradually understand and know how useful that is.

But at 30's.. sigh. i wouldn't think too much.

This is how SATA used to work. I forget what they use to call it. Perhaps someone told him its possible to do it that way and he wouldn't let go of it.

I have 1 problem here... which i'm not sure how to do it to make it succeed everytime. ok.

after i got the voker and the tank positioned. I got behind tank and press Alt-A to start the attack with my SATA already standing by. AT this time i wish to unleash my WS as well but sometimes.. i'm not sure if it's due to lag, my 1st attack would land do a critical b4 my fast blade can land, hence kind wasting my Tp to stack with SATA.

How do you guys go about it to do it everytime?

If you are doing it that way, just have your WS macro ready right after you press Ctrl+A. Make sure to hit the macro right after Ctrl+a or else you will get a normal hit in first. (It doesn't matter if your weapon is not quite unsheathed yet, you should still be able to start the WS right after you initiate auto attack).
