in ve'lugannon palace theres a small room you can get a Curtana sword in. It's completely worthless but in another area of ve'lugannon there's a ??? that you trade it to to make a Brigandish Blade pop. To kill the brigandish blade you must successfully steal from it. the stolen item is the equally worthless Buccanear Knife. If your really lucky it will drop a Btm. Knife

that's sort of depressing, I have bad time with stealing from easy prey Yagudo for gold beastcoin with +11 steal equip on! And It took 7 tries to beat Maat ! Then, in Oz coffer key raidsI fail steal all the time then DRK/THF and MNK/THF get coins >_< I'll definately have to try this sometime... what happens if you fail steal, just hide and trade again later? I imagine you just end up losing sword :p

you'll probably be fighting it in an alliance with lots of thieves, a couple tanks, and a bunch of healers. Brigandish Blade also drops the stone of the south which is needed to pop suzaku. Suzaku is one of the more popular ru'aun gardnes HNM because it drops Shining Cloth.

If it's your Curtana, i doubt anyone would be against the My Curtana therefore my Btm. Knife argument.

heya, just curious about something, from reading the first ??? in brigandish room it seemed to me after you kill it with the buccaneer knife you trade it to that ??? since it said "bring me that knife blah blah blah", anyway i tried to trade it and i only can get "nothing happen". Is the bartholomey knife a drop off brigandish, and you trade this to the ???, or you trade something else, or is it only there to tell you how to kill it?

oi, my laziness comes back again to bite me...
guess i should do it again with all the little details.

#1- you need a curtana. It's a 2 hour pop as a ??? in several small rooms in ve'lugganon palace. I've seen it in 4 different ones so far. If you look at the ve'lugannon maps, all of them except map1, the tiny rooms off the side of the main path are the ones it shows up in. btw, it also moves around after it pops.

#2-trade the curtana to a ??? in the big room in the middle south of ve'lugannon map1 to make brigandish blade pop. Can steal a buccaneers knife from him. Once he's at 1hp he becomes completely invincible to everything except the buccaneer's knife. btw, he's a real badass so have a good group. I suppose you could try doing steal and flee but that really kinda screws your chances of even getting the buccaneers knife since he will vanish if left alone and curtana can be a pain to find when it wants to be and who knows if theres some sort of flag when you kill him because killing him with it is part of the request. Anyways, the stuff he drops is really nice, be a shame to just waste it.

#3-trade the buccaneers knife to a ??? in the same room and get a message that says nothing happened and lose your hard earned knife
the only person i have ever seen with it said "by rare chance, trade buccaneer knife to ??? will cause Bartholomew ghost thank you and recieve bartholomew knife" ...take that as you will :sweat:

edit: before you take the last part as fact... i have heard that it actually drops off of him and the you get it form the ??? but the only person ive seen with it said the ??? thing. i just said "drop" before since walking 3 seconds to the ??? and hoping youll get it is basically the same as if it just directly dropped if you think about it. All i know is it is definately connected to Brigandish Blade in some way and once i finally find mine i will post the factual last step.

Anyone I've asked about it said that basically there's a chance when you kill Brigand that you trade buccaneers to the ??? and get Bartholomew's Knife from it, but often it just wont accept the trade so you have to pop Brigand again and steal a new Bucaneers knife for each try because knives from previous kills won't work.

Knife from precious kills does works. Getting the steal+2 knife is luck, just keep trading. It still a mystery tho.

Got the Knife yesterday.

Here's what i did:

1)There's 2 "???" in the room, one that will POP Brigandish Blade (North of the room), and another that gives you some message about a pirate ass being handed to himself (South of the room).

2) I checked the South ??? once just to make sure.

3) Trade Curtana to North ??? to POP Brigandish Blade.

4) Steal Buccaneer's Knife from Brigandish Blade.

5) Equip Buccaneer's Knife to kill it.

6) Within 15 seconds after killing, I unequip the Buccaneer's Knife and trade it to the SOUTH ???.

7) You have obtained: Bartholomew's Knife. Grats.

NOTE: Some people said that its luck whether you get the knife when trading, but FYI, I trade during 5% NEW MOON (If it makes a difference at all).

Please try it out and reconfirm this as I got the knife on my first try.

EDIT!!: My bad... I did it on 5% NEW MOON not Full Moon.. as in edited.

I know 2 jps who have it and both say cant use same knife and says its purely random. Either way I still have shitty luck with with good knives cuc im still 0/38 on sozu and 0/9 on brigandish. T_T

Can you still come back to trade Buccaneer's Knife to get Bartholemews? Anyone have sucess doing that?

Hmm, i forgot about this post :x

I got my knife a few months back, there's really nothing special about getting. Just as random as getting the sam sword from Zip or Axe from Ulli. Just keep trying (^-^
