That information had very little value, im afraid to say.

Without TH, they could have just been lucky, or unlucky, the same applies for all the other traits/items.

Im sorry, but I dont see how any conclusions can be drawn when chance is one of the variables.

100 kills of the same enemy per ability/item isn't good enough proof for you!?

Yep, started to level up my Thief a few days ago.
Level 11 and still suffering in pain.
WHM sub has made it a lot easier though.

We were talking about level 1-15 right? I dont solo all those levels, I go to Valkurm Dunes. During those parties you can be very useful with Provoke.

That and provoke is useful if you solo, beats running after a mob

parties are faster, but it can be very difficult to get into before level 15. i waited hours for parties in the dunes. id solo EP in konschtat while waiting, and probably made more XP overall doing that than leveling in a party from 13-15.

That and provoke is useful if you solo, beats running after a mob
dia or a ranged attack do the same thing while also debuffing/damaging the mob at the same time.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I just wanted to mention that since day of week and moon phase affect drop rates as well, the information is interesting, but not statistically useful unless all farming took place at the same place in the Vana'diel cycle.

Don't forget time of day, race, gender, whether you're looking into the sun, class, whether you've got a spare hand free, number of same item in your pack, number of other items in your pack, total number of items in the packs of people in the zone, and whether or not you have signet on. My LSmate's g/f's brother's best friend knows a guy that tested them all.
              You know I'm right.

Note that a controlled test proving this assertion (like, say, the one cited) is conspicuously absent.

I find it absolutely hilarious that you try to immediately dismiss a very well-designed controlled test with totally unsubstantiated superstition. Don't forget that INT affects your drop rate, too! Otherwise, why would AF have +INT???

Good point Dan. I don't know, but if there really is a day/moon cycle that increases drops by 2 times(comparing TH2 to none), then please tell me so I can farm on that day.

I can't read Japanese, and I couldn't find the original source, but the translation cited here made no mention of any controls whatsoever -- that's "well-designed"? My point is exactly that this test was not controlling for a potentially relevant factor. Agreed, it would be my onus to prove this, but I frankly don't care if you believe me. I am personally confident that day of the week affects certain drops on certain monsters.

OK, but until we find that day of the week and have tested evidence(or are "personally confident"), then I will stick with the tried and true tested method of getting THF to 45 for TH2.

Do you know what a control is?

The test was farming 100 Tabar Beaks. They did a baseline farm with no bonus (i.e. the control), then repeated the exact same test with each variable that they were testing for specifically isolated. That is a controlled test.

Because INT effects steal hence the reason you eqip +steal and +int items during lvl 70 limit break with maat =p

Oh, OK, I wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic.

In that case, you're just wrong:
